Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is undeniable that in today's world waste recycling is very important for development of a country. In this regard, some people believe that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirements. I agree up to large extent due to several reasons which will be outlined in the forthcoming fragments with logical conclusion.
To commence with there are many reasons of the given statement. The first and foremost is fast results. To explain, if governments make a legal law for recycling the waste of homes it forces homes to collect a trash and do activities to recycle them. Similarly companies will also be aware to manage waste. For instance, countries like south Korea and UK had made a legal law to protect environment from pollution. Therefore, the results will be more faster. Secondly, it makes clear rules. To elaborate, people are strongly forced to follow the rules or guidelines made by governments and give a strong reason to act and follow that. For example, a survey conducted by an agency that revealed that rules give a strong reason to follow the laws and guidelines. Furthermore, it decreases the pollution. To clarify it, if governments made a legal law definitely people will decease the waste germination and it reduces the soil pollution as less people will forced to throw the waste in the dustbins.
However, there are also few other ways which can be followed. The prime one is that governments should conduct the awareness programs. To justify, if government should give education and information to society about benefits of recycling waste and conduct the awareness programs to guide them. Moreover, government should also give financial rewards to motivate society's people so that innovate their mind to recycle waste and assimilates it. To illustrate, as if authorities give financial or non-financial incentives to those people who recycled their home's waste they will be more motivated to do such activities.
In conclusion, although there are numerous reasons to make legal law such as decrease pollution, clear laws and fast results. Yet, few other ways that cannot be neglected at any cost.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that supports legal requirements while acknowledging alternative approaches. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, though some arguments, such as the claim that laws 'decrease waste germination,' are slightly unclear or logically weak. The structure is logical, moving from the benefits of legislation to alternative methods like awareness programs. To reach a higher band, ensure that all supporting examples are specific and clearly linked to the main argument, as some examples, like the vague reference to a 'survey conducted by an agency,' lack sufficient detail to be persuasive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used throughout, such as 'To commence with,' 'Similarly,' and 'Furthermore.' However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The transition between the body paragraphs and the conclusion is functional, but the flow could be improved by using more sophisticated linking phrases. The referencing is generally clear, though the internal structure of the second paragraph feels slightly disjointed due to the rapid shift between points. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'waste germination' (though this is an incorrect collocation) and 'non-financial incentives.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'forthcoming fragments' instead of 'following paragraphs' and 'legal law' (a tautology). To improve, focus on using more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with articles ('the trash'), subject-verb agreement ('governments made a legal law'), and awkward phrasing ('if government should give education'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some missing spaces after commas. The errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in verb tenses and prepositions would significantly enhance the quality of the writing.
