Student answer (Band 6.5)

Some people argue that home waste material has not recycled sufficiently while some say that government should enforce law to increase the recycling. Now this essay shall analyze arguments while i firmly contend with legal requirement.

Home waste material like the bottles and materials which can be reuse should be collected and travel back to factories to reccycle the plastic and use for the production of other things. So in this way this would not cause a burden on economy to invest more into this. Apart from plastic other waste components are metal or glass scrap, organic food waste, paper and cardboard can be recover into new forms by different methods which has been used in industries. This will be beneficial for hygienic habits and improve the safety measures for prevention of diseases.

To make sure people follow the rules government should enforce the regulations for instance trash can bags must placed outside the house along with different colours like yellow, blue and green with the instructions for example blue for plastic, metal or glass scrap, green for organic food waste, and yellow for infectious waste. if anyone added the garbage to the opposite bag then workers will not collect the trash that way people dont tolerate the collected debris, they will follow the rules.

In conclusion rules are crucial to train the human nature and especially administration can play a vital role via different ways such trash can bags to collect the bags of house waste and can be reuse after upcycling.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of legal requirements. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention the benefits of recycling and suggest a system of colored bins, the explanation of why laws are necessary to change human behavior is underdeveloped. The essay focuses more on the mechanics of a recycling system rather than the philosophical or practical necessity of government intervention. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'extent' of your agreement, perhaps discussing the limitations of voluntary recycling versus the effectiveness of mandatory policies.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and occasionally inaccurate. For example, the transition 'So in this way' is a bit informal and simplistic. The logical progression between the second and third paragraphs is clear, but the conclusion is repetitive and does not effectively summarize the main arguments presented. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word forms, such as 'has not recycled sufficiently' (should be passive: 'has not been recycled') and 'travel back to factories' (which is not a standard collocation). You attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'upcycling' and 'infectious waste,' which is good, but the overall control of word choice is inconsistent. Focusing on collocations and more sophisticated academic vocabulary will help improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('government should enforce law'), missing articles ('the government'), and incorrect verb forms ('if anyone added the garbage'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage in complex sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, especially regarding verb tenses and pluralization.
