Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the topic but fails to take a clear position on whether laws are needed. The prompt asks 'to what extent' you think laws are necessary, but the essay provides a general description of waste types and environmental impacts rather than arguing for or against legislation. The ideas are largely descriptive rather than analytical. To improve, you must directly answer the prompt in the introduction and ensure every paragraph supports your specific stance on government intervention. Currently, the essay reads more like an informative report on waste than a persuasive argument.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between the introduction, the list of waste types, and the conclusion is disjointed. The use of a numbered list (1, 2, 3) is not appropriate for an IELTS essay, as it disrupts the flow of academic writing. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, making the relationship between ideas unclear. To improve, use linking words like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'however' to connect sentences and ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'un healty', 'disatract', 'sugerestions', and 'mankid'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about environmental policy or recycling legislation. Many words are used incorrectly, such as 'recovered' instead of 'recycled' and 'severage' instead of 'sewage'. To reach a higher band, you should focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to the environment and waste management, and proofread carefully to avoid basic spelling errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'the effect very bad in our Envirnment' lacks a verb, and 'they heats up the planet' is grammatically incorrect. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods and commas. You need to focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb.
