Student answer (Band 6.5)
Nowadays, recycling the waste of homes is the issue that people struggle with it. Most people think that governments have to control it and people are not responsible for that. I will discuss whether people should recycle more of their waste themself without laws or with laws.
Significant increase waste is important world problem that all people should pay attention to it. They do not need any laws to recycle their waste due to its harmful to people. They should teach their children that if they not recycle their trash, what will happen for them and the world.
It is obvious that waste can destroy some animals and plants species. In addition, it can make air polluted and damage people's health. Therefore, people have to know it requires they solve this issue themselves.
On the other hand, government have to aware people from this problem and talk about how people can recycle their waste. Also they should take some laws which avoid people from not recycle their waste. It need high fines for that to pressure people to recycle waste.
Laws cause even if a person do not believe to recycle, they have to do it to be not fined. Also, giving reward is impactful.
In my country, unfortunately, people do not recycle their waste. In addition, there is no law or reward for that. So people do not recycle their waste and government do it without people's help. In a result, a lot of waste is produced in my country.
In conclusion, despite of recycling waste by some people, governments should take some laws to make people recycle more of their waste and teach them how they can do that to have fresh air and healthy.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing that while personal responsibility is important, government intervention via laws is necessary. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the need for education is mentioned but not fully explored, and the discussion on 'fines' and 'rewards' is brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples and provide more depth to your reasoning. The conclusion effectively summarizes your stance, but the overall development of the arguments remains somewhat superficial, which is characteristic of a Band 6 response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'On the other hand', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'it' in 'people struggle with it' or 'it requires they solve this issue'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the use of cohesive devices could be more varied and sophisticated to improve the overall flow of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'recycling', 'waste', 'fines', and 'polluted'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'significant increase waste' (should be 'significantly increased waste') and 'government have to aware people' (should be 'make people aware'). To improve, try to incorporate more precise academic vocabulary and ensure correct word forms are used.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the essay. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('government have to aware'), missing articles ('in result'), and incorrect verb forms ('if they not recycle'). Punctuation is generally functional, but some sentence structures are slightly disjointed. While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of prepositions would be highly beneficial.
