Student answer (Band 6.5)

Recycling of the household waste have immense posotive effects on environment, helping the ecocnomy and keeping things in budget as it saves a lot of raw material costs in the production sector. I firmly believe that some official steps taken by the governments would be very helpful in expanding recycling.

Over the years, consumption of various industrial products has increased massively, which has increased the amount of waste as well. These waste products need to be dispossed off properly in order to keep the environment clean. For this purpose, recycling comes in action helping the industries to use the waste products and recycling them into a new shape or size. A most common example of recycled materials is plastic which can be used again and again if recycled.

As far as the official bodies are concerned, I think that governments should make proper arrangements of recycling household waste such as building a scrap house in every town where the waste could be collected and further moved to the recycling plants. For instance, in Germany I anknowledge that there are plastic bottle collecting machines placed in every mega convenient store where people can dispose their used bottles. These machines also provide them with vouchers after collecting bottles which can be used at the store for shopping. So, this is helpful for both consumers and governments as well as the household waste is being recycled very smoothly.

Overall, recycling is very helpful in various ways. It keeps the nature poultion-free and the costing of recycling a product is way less than building it from scratch. This is why I think that governments should make laws and official departments who would be responsible for managing and recycling of the household waste.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the role of government legislation in recycling. You clearly state your position in the introduction and maintain it throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you provide a relevant example from Germany, the discussion on why laws are specifically needed—as opposed to voluntary measures—could be more deeply explored. To reach a higher band, ensure you fully explain the 'extent' of your agreement by contrasting the effectiveness of legal requirements against alternative methods like public awareness campaigns. The ideas are relevant but could be extended with more analytical depth regarding the practical implications of such laws.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central focus. There is a progression of ideas from the benefits of recycling to the role of government and a specific example. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'For this purpose' and 'As far as the official bodies are concerned,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. The use of referencing is generally clear, but improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall cohesion of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumption,' 'industrial products,' and 'production sector.' However, there are several spelling errors ('posotive,' 'ecocnomy,' 'dispossed,' 'poultion-free') and some awkward collocations, such as 'recycling comes in action' and 'scrap house.' While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise word choice and better proofreading. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and using more sophisticated collocations to express your ideas with greater precision.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('Recycling... have,' 'waste... are being recycled') and article usage errors ('the nature,' 'the costing'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede the reader's understanding. To achieve a higher score, you should aim for more error-free sentences and greater control over complex structures. Pay closer attention to pluralization and the correct use of prepositions, as these small slips currently prevent the writing from reaching a higher level of grammatical accuracy.
