Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of legal requirements. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention that laws create accountability, the explanation is repetitive and lacks depth. The examples provided, such as the UK government regulating dining tables or sofa sets, are not logical or relevant to the context of household waste recycling, which typically focuses on packaging, paper, and plastics. To improve, ensure your supporting arguments are logically sound and directly address the practicalities of the issue rather than listing arbitrary household items.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Commencing with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical repetition of ideas. The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the logical progression between sentences is sometimes weak, particularly in the second paragraph where the link between laws and specific furniture items is disjointed. Using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring each sentence builds logically on the previous one would improve the coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'environment safe' instead of 'environmental safety' and 'fix fane' (likely meaning 'fixed fines'). Phrases like 'rise recycling' and 'hard rule' are imprecise. You rely on a limited set of words, and the lack of collocation awareness (e.g., 'essay way' instead of 'easy way') occasionally makes the text difficult to follow. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and topic-specific terminology would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'laws are require'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms (e.g., 'every people' instead of 'everyone'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with spaces missing before commas and periods. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
