Student answer (Band 5.0)
wastes or garbages from homes or towns are considered a very important issue that is totally overlooked by government and many people claim that not enough of wastes from homes are recycled and they think that government should make more laws for the wastes to be recycled strictly and every waste that is recyle can be good for living such as recycling of plastic bottles are very well efforts of government towards the people of a city or country as they can be used again after recycling and there are laws in such countries that plastic and rubbeer wastes should be recycled or thrown in different garbages can to be recycled carefully and also glass should be recycled separately from them but some wastes such as home accesories that are no use for the home owners are left on the side of their road infront of their houses to be picked by any who needs it such as sofas or beds some people considered these things as more important wastes that should also be handled carefully and should be given to government to be recycled but in some people opinions it should not get to be handled by government as there can be someone who needs it for their home better then for government to it be recycled and yes some people trow their sofa or couch or bed or their refrigrator because they do not need it anymore and it can be picked by ayone who need a sofa or bed or anything else for their home it can be useful for them i think laws should also be for garbage wastes to be thrown separately by labelling in all the countries so that it can handled carefully

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the topic but lacks a clear, consistent position. While it mentions the idea of legal requirements, the argument is underdeveloped and drifts into a discussion about household items like sofas and beds. The response lacks a formal structure, such as an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which prevents a clear development of ideas. The prompt asks for an evaluation of whether laws are needed to increase recycling, but the response focuses more on the logistics of waste disposal rather than the necessity of government intervention. To improve, you should clearly state your opinion in an introduction and support it with distinct, well-reasoned arguments in separate paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is written as a single, long paragraph, which makes it difficult to follow. There is a lack of logical progression between ideas, and the transition between the topic of government laws and the disposal of furniture is abrupt. Cohesive devices are largely absent or misused, leading to a repetitive and disjointed flow. For example, the frequent use of 'and' to connect long, run-on sentences creates a sense of mechanical writing rather than a coherent argument. Using clear paragraphing and a variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'however') would significantly improve the structure and readability of your work.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, often relying on basic terms like 'wastes', 'garbages', and 'things'. There are several instances of incorrect word choice and non-standard phrasing, such as 'rubbeer wastes' and 'infront of their houses'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas about environmental policy or social responsibility. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise terminology related to the environment (e.g., 'sustainability', 'mandatory', 'waste management') and avoid informal or inaccurate expressions. Expanding your range of collocations will help you convey your points with greater clarity and sophistication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response consists almost entirely of run-on sentences, lacking proper punctuation such as full stops or commas to separate distinct thoughts. This makes the text very difficult to read. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'every waste that is recyle can be good') and incorrect sentence structures. The lack of complex sentence structures limits the grammatical range. To improve, focus on writing shorter, grammatically correct sentences and practice using punctuation to separate independent clauses. Pay close attention to verb forms and pluralization, as these errors occur frequently throughout the text.
