Student answer (Band 6.0)

Some people think that the garbage that is collected from households. It is not recycled properly. I completely agree with that government should make a legal law to recycle wastes properly. The main reasons is that people will aware about the importance of environment and people's health will be improved by a good farming

One of the main reasons is that people will aware themselves about environment. To put it in simple terms, when government imposes stricter rule for recycling garbage, people will follow the rule, and understand its results of not following the law by paying a high penalty to the authority. As a result, the waste of home recycle will be more recycled and people will aware about affect of environment issues which cause many adverse problems the world. For instance, the government of Canada has imposed a new stricter rule of garbage recycle like furniture, electronic devices, and mattresses. Hence, imposing strict rules allow people to recycle garbage and make them aware environment.

Another reason is that people's overall health will be improved by recycling the waste. In other words, dumping plastics into land for many years, which is the most dangerous material in the world, that makes unproductive lands, Consequently, farmers cannot cultivate healthy crops, fruits, and vegetable which are the basic need for people's health. Therefore, recycling garbage can allow lands to grow more crops in the farm and people's health too.

To recapitulate, recycling the waste form homes is more important than using and throwing for people's health and environment by imposing stricter law.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on environmental awareness and health benefits. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the link between recycling and 'good farming' is asserted but not logically explained in a sophisticated way. While the example of Canada is relevant, the explanation of how laws specifically lead to these outcomes is a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced arguments that explore the complexities of government intervention versus individual responsibility.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, and there is a logical progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'To put it in simple terms', 'As a result', and 'To recapitulate'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is hindered by grammatical errors, such as the fragmented sentence 'Some people think that the garbage that is collected from households.' Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on basic terms like 'good', 'bad', and 'make', and there are some issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'waste of home recycle' instead of 'household waste' and 'aware themselves about' instead of 'become aware of'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'cultivate' and 'adverse', the overall range is limited. To improve, focus on learning more precise collocations and academic synonyms for common verbs and adjectives.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently struggle with subject-verb agreement and sentence fragments, such as 'The main reasons is that people will aware' (should be 'The main reason is that people will become aware'). Other errors include 'the waste of home recycle will be more recycled' and 'make them aware environment'. These errors are frequent and occasionally require the reader to re-read to understand the intended meaning. Increasing your control over basic grammar and punctuation is essential for a higher score.
