Student answer (Band 6.0)
In recent times, many people believe waste from households are not sufficiently recycled and they believed that the only way to tackle this issue is for government to enforce it as a law. I completely disagree with view because people can adhere through public education and empowerment of companies.
The primary reason for my view is that people can also comply to recycling of waste if there is proper campaign and health education on waste and recycling. This because many people do not understand what recycling means and which waste are meant to be recycled. Therefore, through the introduction of public campaign people can see how important and useful there solid waste are. for instance, people living in the rural do not have a good understanding of proper waste disposal but through the means of educating people may develop an insight toward recycling.
Another primary reason why I hold this position is that there should for provision of recycling industries. In many counties, there are limited number of companies that process solid waste. This means the government should create companies that will convert this waste into useful materials. for example, Nigeria have a few company that are into recycling so citizens does not care about how they treat their waste because they believe their solid waste is invaluable. Therefore, government should also prioritize the construction of companies that will convert all these waste'
In conclusion, The primary I disagree that constitutional rule is the only way to tackle improper refuse management is because health education will broaden people understanding to recycling and construction of recycling company will assist proper waste disposal.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing against the necessity of legal requirements in favor of education and infrastructure. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention public campaigns and the need for recycling industries, the arguments remain at a surface level. For example, the explanation of how education leads to behavioral change is brief. To reach a higher band, you should provide more detailed examples or logical consequences of your proposed solutions. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the introduction rather than synthesizing the arguments presented in the body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason for my view', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as the phrase 'The primary I disagree that' in the final paragraph, which is grammatically incomplete and disrupts the flow. Additionally, the transition between sentences within paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs needs more sophisticated linking to achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'solid waste', 'refuse management', and 'proper waste disposal'. However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'comply to recycling' (should be 'comply with') and 'there solid waste are' (should be 'their solid waste is'). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, relying on basic structures. To improve, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise academic collocations to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('waste from households are', 'citizens does not care'), article usage ('in the rural', 'have a few company'), and missing words ('there should for provision'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly regarding pluralization and verb forms, to ensure your complex sentences are constructed correctly.
