Student answer (Band 6.0)
Uanimously, in this period of globalization, some people claim that large amount of household waste is not recycled properly. Some people believe tghat governments should make recycling a legal requirment. I strongly agree with this notion and the supporting roward my view will be discussed toward my view will be duscussed in further paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.
Firstly, supporting my agreement to the given statement, I firmly have a belief that strict laws can play a vital role in increasing recycling rates. Many people know that recycling is important, but they may not do it because they find it inconvenient or simply do not care. If governments make recycling compulsory, people may become more responsible about separating paper, plastic, glass and other materials. Moreover, authorities could introduce fines for household that repeatedly fail to follow recycling rules.
On the other hand, laws alone may not be sufficient. Some people follow the rules only because they are afraid of punishment, rather than because they understand the importance od protecting the environment. Therfore, government should also raise public awareness thrugh schools, social media and community compaigns. In addition, recycling centres and separate waste bins should be easily available. However, school can teach student how waste affects the environment and these children can encourage their families to recycle at home.
In conclusion, I believe that laws are necessary to a considerable extent, especially, for people who refuse to recycle. However, the most affected approach is to combine legal requurement with public education and easily accessible recycling facilities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that laws are necessary but should be complemented by education and infrastructure. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the argument regarding the limitations of legal enforcement. However, the introduction is slightly repetitive and contains some awkward phrasing, such as 'supporting roward my view will be discussed toward my view will be duscussed'. While the position is clear, the development of the 'education' aspect could be slightly more nuanced to reach a higher band. Overall, the response effectively balances the two sides of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are some minor issues with cohesion, such as the repetitive phrasing in the introduction and some slightly disjointed transitions between sentences in the third paragraph. Despite these minor flaws, the progression of ideas is clear and easy to follow throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some attempts at topic-specific language like 'legal requirement', 'compulsory', and 'public awareness'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'Uanimously', 'tghat', 'requirment', 'od', 'Therfore', 'thrugh', 'compaigns', and 'requurement'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the student should focus on accuracy in spelling and attempt to use more sophisticated collocations or less common lexical items to demonstrate a wider range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is a reasonable attempt at complex sentences, such as 'If governments make recycling compulsory, people may become more responsible...'. However, there are several grammatical errors, including 'large amount of household waste' (needs 'a'), 'fines for household' (should be 'households'), and 'the most affected approach' (should be 'effective'). While these errors are present, they do not cause difficulty for the reader. The control of punctuation is generally good, but the frequency of minor grammatical slips prevents a higher score.
