Student answer (Band 6.0)
Most people think that not much of the waste materials from homes is recycled and the government should make it a legal requirement to increase recycling. I would argue that laws are also required to save our environment from pollution but instead we should provide proper facilities to people, so that they can easily recycled their waste.
On the one hand, some people think that the government should make it a legal requirement to increase recycling. Moreover, people will definitely follow the laws and recycled their waste from their homes. A small amount of fine should be imposed on people who did not follow the laws. For instance, in Japan people intensively follow the legal laws and recycled their garbage, if they did not follow the law they have to pay heavy fine. People should responsibly do recycling and they have to separate the waste, that which is useable or which is not.
On the other hand, some people believe that we cannot follow the legal laws if we did not have proper facilities for recycling. Furthermore, the government should provide proper facilities for example they should add recycling bins outside of their homes and also provide transportation facilities, so that that the daily waste can be collected. For instance, in Pakistan the government provide facilities to the public to collect waste outside of their homes. They recycled some of the materials which can be used again and benefit the public. Additionally, the government should charge the public very less for all of these facilities.
To conclude, I believe that the government should provide basic facilities to the public to recycle their waste rather than to only make it a legal requirement.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that balances legal requirements with the necessity of infrastructure. The ideas are relevant, though some development is slightly repetitive. For instance, the discussion on Japan and Pakistan provides concrete examples to support the arguments, which is a strength. However, the analysis could be more nuanced; for example, the argument that laws are only effective if facilities exist is a good point, but it could be expanded further to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the two sides of the argument. Cohesive devices such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'Additionally' are used to link ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are instances where the flow could be smoother. For example, the transition between the need for laws and the example of Japan is a bit abrupt. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the reader can easily follow the writer's line of reasoning.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'intensively' and 'imposed', which show a decent range. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'recycled their waste' (should be 'recycle') and 'charge the public very less' (should be 'charge the public very little'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the score. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'if they did not follow the law they have to pay' should be 'if they do not follow the law, they have to pay', and 'government provide facilities' should be 'government provides facilities'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in tense consistency would help improve the score.
