Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of legal requirements for recycling. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention environmental and health impacts, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the link between recycling and 'heart attacks' is asserted but not logically explained or supported with credible reasoning. The essay follows the structure of an academic task, but the content remains superficial. To improve, focus on expanding your arguments with more specific examples or logical explanations that connect the legal requirement directly to the outcome of increased recycling rates.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'and' to start sentences or connect clauses. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly with pronouns like 'there' (used instead of 'their') and 'the' (used instead of 'they'). The introduction is somewhat informal, and the conclusion does not effectively summarize the main points, instead introducing new, slightly confusing ideas about 'danger goods'. Improving the use of linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would help create a smoother progression of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often imprecise, which occasionally impedes communication. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'the member of the waste team face to a lot of problems' instead of 'waste management workers face many challenges' and 'make some finds' instead of 'impose fines'. Spelling errors are also frequent, such as 'legel' for 'legal', 'hart' for 'heart', and 'devide' for 'divide'. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your range of vocabulary beyond basic terms and focus on using words that are appropriate for an academic context, while also paying closer attention to spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('the government should make strong law against the people the are not recycling'), incorrect use of articles, and confusion between homophones (e.g., 'there' vs 'their'). Complex structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion in meaning. For example, 'If the government make some finds and punishment for household there not putting there waste in apart containers the have to charge finds' is grammatically incorrect and difficult to follow. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors would significantly improve your score.
