Student answer (Band 5.0)

the biggest issue in the modern era is waste of the homes many people believe that the maximum waste of the homes are not recycling therefore, there is only way to control it government should make the law to legal the recycling process mandatory for everyone and make some restriction to make the non recyclable things which can be effect to the environment. I tend to agree with this statement.

to begin with, nowadays the population is increasing day by day and the waste of the homes are also increasing there is enough space to store the waste and has limited recycling machines evenly maximum things are cannot be recycle like plastic made material such as plastic bags, bottles, plastic sheets and many more things. government should control it. for example, according to the survey of times of India newspaper last year the government of china make the law for the manufacturing companies they cannot make the plastic packaging for their products and specially banned those companies who makes the plastic bags and other material with plastic. thus, its helps to save the environment from the diseases which are produced from the burned plastic gases it can be effect to the lungs so government should notice it and take action.

to commence with, government have to make law like china they should apply conditions for the waste residential should put the waste at the garbage bags and dust bins or stop to throw the water any where. higher authorities should make the law for the higher corporations to make the nature friendly bags and avoid the plastic to use in any thing.

to conclude, its important to recycle the daily waste which is comes from the societies and homes or residential areas.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favor of legal requirements for recycling. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you provide an example regarding China's plastic regulations, the connection to the core argument—that laws are the only way to increase recycling—is somewhat superficial. The essay tends to over-generalize, and some points, such as the mention of 'limited recycling machines,' are not fully explained or linked to the necessity of legislation. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-supported argument that directly answers the 'to what extent' aspect of the question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as starting the second paragraph with 'to begin with' and the third with 'to commence with,' which are repetitive and do not effectively signal a shift in argument. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors, making the text feel disjointed. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the overall structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'things,' 'make,' and 'waste' throughout the essay. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'legal the recycling process' (should be 'make the recycling process legal') and 'effect to the environment' (should be 'affect the environment'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the limited range of vocabulary prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Incorporating more topic-specific terminology related to environmental policy and waste management would be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'waste of the homes are' and 'maximum things are cannot be recycle.' Punctuation is also problematic, with many run-on sentences and missing commas. The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions. Attempting more complex sentence structures only after ensuring accuracy in simple ones will help improve your score.
