Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt regarding whether laws are needed to increase domestic recycling, presenting a clear opinion in favour of government measures combined with education and incentives. However, the ideas are relatively brief and underdeveloped. Furthermore, the response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, coming in at 221 words instead of the required 250 words. This under-length impacts the overall development and depth of the argument, pulling the task achievement score down into the lower bands. While the writer mentions campaigns, rewards, and school classes, these points lack sufficient elaboration and specific examples to reach a higher level of task response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into several paragraphs, showing an attempt at a logical structure with an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the paragraphing and transitions are occasionally choppy and unconventional. For instance, the transition 'Moreover, Implimentation of Reusing paper...' is awkward and mechanically weak. Referencing and cohesive devices are inconsistently used, and the formatting of sentences sometimes breaks down into fragmented phrases, particularly near the end of the second body paragraph. Overall progression is somewhat disjointed, and cohesion requires significant improvement to achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is relatively basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors in word choice and form, such as 'wastages' instead of 'waste', 'boundation' instead of 'bound' or 'legislation', and 'gouverment'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'preserve our Environment' and 'social responsibility', but these are undermined by frequent spelling and lexical inaccuracies. While the meaning is generally communicated, the lexical range is limited and minimally adequate for the task, which corresponds to a Band 5 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty or fragmented. There are numerous punctuation and capitalization errors, such as mid-sentence capitalization ('Society', 'Some', 'Environment', 'Government', 'Studen') and run-on structures that lack appropriate punctuation. Grammatical inaccuracies are frequent throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues and awkward phrasing like 'how already pollution is affecting'. While the reader can generally grasp the writer's intent, the high density of errors and lack of control over complex sentence forms place this at a Band 5.
