Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether governments should make recycling a legal requirement, offering a position that laws are necessary. However, the development of ideas is severely limited and difficult to follow due to widespread linguistic issues. While the writer mentions government action, recycling processes, and environmental benefits, the arguments remain underdeveloped and lack clear, logical expansion. The points made regarding people throwing waste in backward places or selling waste to the government are disjointed and do not form a coherent line of reasoning. Consequently, the response aligns most closely with the Band 4 descriptor, as the ideas are minimally presented and the overall fulfillment of the task is impeded by the lack of clear, relevant argument development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks clear logical organisation and progression. Although basic transitional markers like 'Moreover', 'And furthermore', and 'In conclusion' are attempted, they are often misused or placed inappropriately, failing to create a smooth flow of ideas. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal structure of the paragraphs is chaotic, with sentences jumping between unrelated points about laws, waste processing, and personal time management. Referencing is frequently unclear, making it hard to determine what pronouns and phrases refer to. As a result, the arrangement of information does not meet the requirements for Band 5, settling firmly at Band 4 where information and ideas are not arranged coherently.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, highly repetitive, and often inaccurate. Words are frequently misused, such as 'thinks' instead of 'things', 'prosses' instead of 'process', and 'prize' instead of 'price'. Phrases like 'backward place' and 'human begin' further illustrate a very limited control over lexical selection and word formation. There is no successful attempt at less common or academic vocabulary, and spelling errors are numerous and pervasive throughout the text. These frequent errors and the severely restricted range of vocabulary strain the reader and place the performance at a Band 4 level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

Grammatical control is extremely weak throughout the response. There is a very limited range of sentence structures, and almost all complex or compound attempts are heavily flawed. Frequent errors include missing verbs, incorrect subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the laws is very needed', 'pepole or recycled'), incorrect word forms, and broken sentence boundaries (e.g., run-on fragments). Punctuation is also problematic. Because errors are frequent, severe, and constantly distort meaning, making the text very difficult for the reader to decipher, the writing fits the Band 4 descriptors.
