Student answer (Band 5.0)

Many people claim that due to plastic products the waste from home cant recycled. my own view on this matter is government should take some action towards it such as make a legal requirement and many more action they should take.

First of all, it is worth considering that the waste which is not recycled is harmful for evrything likr for us , animal and nature because it take millions of years to biodegrade the plastic waste and it is too much harmful for example in day to day life we are using plastic daily in form of plastic bag and they are one time to use and we throw them according to the data millions of plastic bags are used and thrown and they are thrown on the empty grounds and degreade the soil value . to prevent from this goverment should take some legal action like banning the plastic factory or making some limits for the factorys.

However, it is undeniable that plastic product are easy to use and a profit meaking deal because if we make products from nature they are costly and also harm the nature Although, it should not be forgetten that we can grow more trees but if we a make plastic bag it will take million of years to biodegrade or if we burn it will release harmful gasses.

In conclusion, goverment should bann the plastic because it is easy to make but not to biodegrade if we continue to use plastic like this so it will going to harm the nature alot which is ultimately our lose also.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to address the prompt regarding whether laws are needed to increase recycling, taking a clear stance that the government should introduce legal requirements such as banning plastic factories. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While the writer touches on the environmental consequences of plastic waste, such as taking millions of years to biodegrade and harming soil value, the arguments lack depth and formal support. The exploration of why laws specifically are the best or only solution is somewhat superficial, leading to an overall under-developed discussion. Consequently, the response aligns best with the Band 5 descriptor, where the task is addressed, but ideas remain somewhat limited and insufficiently extended throughout the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing a basic attempt at paragraphing. However, overall progression is hindered by poor logical flow and weak organizational links. Cohesive devices are either missing, inadequate, or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on basic conjunctions like 'and', 'but', and conversational transitional phrases like 'First of all' and 'However'. Referencing is frequently unclear, particularly with ambiguous pronoun use such as 'they are thrown' or 'prevent from this'. While the text has a discernible structure, the mechanical nature of the cohesion and the lack of clear progression between sentences place this response at Band 5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some topic-related vocabulary such as 'biodegrade', 'environment' (implied through 'nature'), and 'illegal requirement' (meant as legal requirement), but these are undermined by frequent spelling and word-choice errors, including 'evrything', 'likr', 'degreade', 'goverment', 'bann', and 'profit meaking'. There is little control over less common lexical items, and word forms are often inaccurate, such as using verbs where nouns or adjectives are required. These persistent errors and limited range restrict the score to Band 4.5, rounded to 5.0 based on positive achievement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, consisting predominantly of simple sentences and repetitive complex structures that are frequently faulty. There are major issues with punctuation, run-on sentences, and missing capitalisation throughout the response. For example, sentences often string multiple clauses together without proper punctuation, as seen in 'this is worth considering that the waste which is not recycled is harmful...'. Errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and sentence boundaries are frequent and pervasive, causing considerable difficulty for the reader to parse the exact meaning. These persistent and severe grammatical inaccuracies place the response firmly at Band 4.
