Student answer (Band 5.0)
Almost all wastes from the homes is not recycled that is a claim by some people.Government should make a legal notice in order to increase the recycling. In my opinion laws should be made to recycle most of our house wastes.
Government notice that most of the people do not recycle their waste and pollute the environment so in my opinion laws should be made that each and every person have to recycle waste and protect the environment that is a positive impact in our society. I think government have to make a rule that people recycle their waste and in return they will pay so that people take it serious and government is successful in more recycling of wastes and keep the envirinment safe and secure and free from the diseases.Recycling is very important as it keeps the climate safe ad free from diseases.Recently our government accounced that recycling is necessary and they place recycle bins at different places of differenr colors that indicates the specific items to be put in that specific bin. One other thing that they pay in return which also increases the ratio of the recycling.A part from exchange of money with the house waste increases the rush in the area where the government placetheses recycle bins.
In the end, I want to say that it is much better to make a law regarding waste recycling and government should arrange a seminar to do it in a better way that keeps the environment safe and clean.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt regarding whether laws are needed to increase household recycling, expressing a clear position that governments should implement mandatory rules and financial incentives. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. For example, the writer repeatedly states that laws are needed so that 'government keeps the environment safe and secure and free from the diseases' without exploring deeper socioeconomic or environmental consequences. While the prompt's core question is acknowledged, the supporting arguments lack extension and tend to loop over the same points, such as placing bins of different colors and paying citizens in return. This falls under the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are limited and somewhat under-developed, yet the task is still sufficiently addressed to avoid a lower score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay displays basic organization with an introduction, a body, and a conclusion, but overall progression is hindered by poor paragraphing and a lack of clear cohesive devices. The second paragraph is extremely long and crams multiple distinct ideas together—mentioning pollution, laws, financial incentives, color-coded bins, and area crowding all in one dense block of text. Cohesive links are frequently missing, repetitive ('in my opinion', 'in the end'), or inaccurate, such as 'A part from exchange of money with the house waste increases the rush', which makes logical tracking difficult. These mechanical and faulty cohesive practices place the response firmly at Band 5.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently relying on simple terms like 'waste', 'government', 'safe', and 'recycle'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'wastes from the homes', 'legal notice' instead of 'legislation' or 'law', 'pay in return' instead of 'financial incentives', and 'increases the rush' instead of 'increases traffic or congestion'. Spelling and morphological mistakes are also present, including 'envirinment' and 'accounced'. Because the lexical range is limited and contains errors that occasionally require the reader to decode the meaning, it aligns with a Band 5 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The grammatical structure consists predominantly of simple sentences and basic compound structures joined by coordinating conjunctions like 'and' or 'so'. Attempts at complex structures are rare and frequently flawed by run-on sentences, missing punctuation, and subject-verb agreement issues, such as 'each and every person have to recycle' and 'Almost all wastes from the homes is not recycled that is a claim'. Punctuation is largely neglected, leading to spliced clauses throughout the text. While simple sentences are generally understandable, frequent errors across the text place this grammar performance at Band 5.
