Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people thinks that the waste material from the houses are not recycled properly.some do recycle but mostly didn't recycled it.they want the government to make some rule or that the waste should by recycled properly. In my opinion, there should be a law which make people to recycle it.

some people recycle waste and make it to use again but mostly didn't do it. government need to make a strict rules if government will saw any waste which is not recycled by the owner of the house then they will be charged by some fines and they will be puncished .in case of fines and punishment every person will make sure to recycle his waste.in starting days people will do it in the affaired from government .for example in Germany and China people do recycle from his 90% of the waste because of the heavy fines.they didn't recycle their wast government will charge them with heavy fines.

if the government will not corperate with the indiviuals on recycling matter than nothing will get change.Government need to put their some recycling boxes which help indiviuals to recycle their waste.on the other hand education play a important role in this matter.Government should educate people about recycling matter, tell them about the environmental benefits.

in conculsion heavy fines and educational role is important to change the world or country quickly.it is not the only solution indiviuals also needs to think about the country and country.in my opinion i believe both government and indiviuals need to maintain this environment

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by presenting a clear position that laws and fines are necessary to increase recycling, supported by examples such as Germany and China. The student also discusses the complementary role of government infrastructure and education. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack deep extension, placing the response securely in the Band 5 to Band 6 range. While all parts of the task are touched upon, the development is somewhat limited and repetitive, particularly regarding the emphasis on fines. For instance, the mention of Germany and China illustrates the point well, but the overall elaboration remains constrained by the simple sentence structures and limited vocabulary.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The text demonstrates some overall organisation, attempting to structure the essay with an introduction, body paragraphs addressing fines and government support, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. The student makes very limited use of cohesive devices, and sentence boundaries are often blurred due to missing capitalisation and punctuation issues (e.g., 'Some people thinks that... some do recycle...'). Paragraphing is attempted, but the logical progression between sentences is hindered by repetitive phrasing and poor transitional links. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as the pronoun shifts in the second paragraph. This level of organisation aligns best with Band 5 descriptors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing words like 'recycle', 'waste', 'government', and 'fines'. There are noticeable lexical errors and inappropriate word choices, such as 'affaired from government' instead of 'fear of the government', and 'corperate' instead of 'cooperate'. While the student attempts some less common terms like 'environmental benefits' and 'indiviuals', the overall range is limited and minimally adequate for the task. Spelling mistakes (e.g., 'indiviuals', 'conculsion', 'puncished') and word formation issues cause some difficulty for the reader, which is characteristic of Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures. The majority of sentences are simple or poorly constructed complex attempts that contain frequent errors. Subject-verb agreement errors are pervasive (e.g., 'Some people thinks', 'waste material... are', 'indiviuals also needs'). Punctuation and capitalisation are largely neglected throughout the text, with many sentences running together without proper spacing or capital letters after periods. These frequent grammatical errors and punctuation flaws cause noticeable strain and difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 4 descriptor well.
