Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Here we will that most of the waste materials in home is not recycled. The onl way to recycle most of the wasyte materials of the house is that the government should make it a legal requirement.
Recyclig of wastes make the environment clean and there are very less changes of different kind of pollution in the environment.Much of the wastes like plastic bottles, palastic bags and boxes all are thrown into the garbadge boxes. These plastic made things and other wasted should be recycled insted of throwing them away.
From my perspective government should start a fun activity by installing different types of machines in the diferent parts of the society that whoever will throw the recyclabe waste in those machies wopuld get a free lttle gift like chocolate or something. This kind of initiative will make the society even more involved in the recyclng of waste materials. However by taking such type of initiative or by making it a legal requirement evryone will obey the ordergiven by the government. Whereas recycling of things will lead our society and area to look more clean. If all the waste issent to be recycled there will be less quantity of waste as compared to the waste when it was not being recycled.
For example. in china most of their products are made by recycling the old or waste products. After recycling the waste materials they form high qualityproducts which are then exported throughout the regions of the world. There government has installed different kinds of recycling machines in their societies.
Recycling is aery important thing and the society and government both should take part of this activity.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether recycling should be made a legal requirement, presenting a somewhat clear position that both laws and incentives are useful. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. For instance, the student mentions that 'recycling of wastes make the environment clean' and later reiterates that it will 'look more clean', without deeply exploring the broader environmental or socio-economic implications. The example involving China touches on the topic, but remains underdeveloped. Overall, the ideas satisfy the basic requirements of the task but lack sufficient depth and breadth for a higher band, aligning well with the Band 5 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The essay displays some basic organization, separating ideas into introduction, body, and conclusion paragraphs. However, paragraphing is poorly executed, with the main body lumped into one excessively long block that covers multiple disparate points, such as incentives, laws, and the example of China. Cohesive devices are often inadequate or repetitive, relying heavily on basic words like 'However', 'Whereas', and 'For example'. Additionally, referencing and logical progression are frequently faulty, making it difficult to follow the flow of arguments between sentences. This structural disorganization and mechanical cohesion reflect the characteristics of a Band 4.5 to 5.0 performance, best represented by a score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is relatively limited and repetitive, with frequent spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'wasyte', 'Recyclig', 'palastic', 'garbadge', 'insted', 'diferent', 'wopuld', 'lttle', 'recyclng', 'evryone', 'ordergiven', 'issent', and 'aery'. While the writer attempts some less common words like 'requirement', 'initiative', and 'recyclable', the persistent spelling and word-choice errors (e.g., 'machines ... wopuld get a free lttle gift') cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and strain comprehension. The lexical range is minimally adequate for conveying basic thoughts, fitting the Band 5 descriptor.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty. There are numerous grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, such as missing articles ('From my perspective government should start'), subject-verb agreement issues ('much of the wastes like... all are thrown'), and awkward phrasing ('If all the waste issent to be recycled'). While some simple sentences are successfully communicated, the high frequency of errors across basic and complex structures causes frequent difficulty for the reader, which aligns with the criteria for Band 5.
