Student answer (Band 5.0)

Nowadays , Majority of people are waste too many things . In spite of numerous number of significant individuals claim that enough of the waste from home recycled . They believe that the only way to increase recycling ratio is for governments to making it legal requirement .

Numerous number of people claim that they not recycle enough of their home waste . Such as plastic material , iron , electronic items , food and woods furniture . Meanwhile they believe the only solution to increase recycling rate is for government making it legally and take action for their needs .

From my perspective government should pass a law for recycling home wastes . because majority of people throwing their waste in street or in lake , sea . That's why we seems to get diagnosed with bacteria like maliarea , diangue , and other health issue . Government should charge a fine of throwing waste or garbage in street or lake and sea . If someone throw waste again and again government should take serious action on them and charge huge amount of penalty on them .

In contrast, I strongly believe if this laws pass government see too many changes in many individuals of throwing waste therefore, the ratio of recycling waste is dramatically increased and the whole state get to many benefits from recycling waste and use this waste in many new productive items . For example in Europe countries people were recycle their home waste and get numerous of benefits of their waste . However, They also use same strategy as compare to my advice that I give to my government .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position that governments should implement laws to enforce recycling. The writer attempts to develop ideas regarding penalties for littering and the positive environmental and economic outcomes of mandatory recycling. However, the development lacks depth and contains significant repetition, particularly in the introduction and the second paragraph, where similar assertions about people failing to recycle are restated. Furthermore, the examples provided, such as mentioning 'Europe countries', are very vague and lack sufficient elaboration. Although the writer maintains a consistent stance throughout, the overall development of ideas remains somewhat limited and superficial, aligning best with a Band 5.0 descriptor for Task Achievement.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, showing a basic attempt at structural organisation. However, the logical progression is frequently disrupted by poor cohesion and abrupt shifts between ideas. For instance, transitional phrases are either misused or absent, resulting in a choppy reading experience. The phrase 'In contrast' is used inappropriately at the beginning of the final paragraph, as the content that follows actually supports and reinforces the writer's previous arguments rather than contrasting with them. Referencing and substitution are also weak, with ambiguous pronouns such as 'they' and 'them' appearing frequently without clear antecedents. These issues prevent the essay from achieving higher than a Band 5.0 in Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently revolving around simple terms like 'waste', 'people', 'government', and 'recycle'. There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'numerous number of significant individuals' instead of a large number of people, and spelling mistakes like 'maliarea' and 'diangue' for malaria and dengue. While the student attempts to use some less common vocabulary items, inaccurate usage and spelling errors cause noticeable difficulty for the reader and impede smooth communication at times. The lexical range is minimally adequate for addressing the topic, supporting a Band 5.0 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent and basic errors in punctuation, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency. Examples include 'Majority of people are waste too many things', 'governments to making it legal requirement', and 'if this laws pass government see too many changes'. Sentences often run together or lack necessary auxiliary verbs and articles, resulting in frequent grammatical errors that strain the reader's comprehension. Because error-free sentences are rare and grammatical control is weak, this performance falls squarely into the Band 4.0 category.
