Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether laws are needed to enforce recycling, attempting to present a position and supporting arguments. However, the development is limited and somewhat confused. The student presents ideas such as creating a 'new force' and placing colored baskets outside homes, but these points are under-developed and lack clear extension. Sentences like 'The claim of some people that not all the waste from homes is recycled' fail to fully formulate a clear stance or directly answer the prompt's nuances. While all parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of coherent elaboration and underdeveloped reasoning place this response at Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The text is organized into paragraphs, attempting a logical progression from introducing enforcement to practical steps like colored baskets and citizen responsibility. However, cohesion is frequently faulty and mechanical. Transitional phrases are misused or awkward, such as 'To begin with, The first step toward this compaign' and 'In contrast, It is also an responsbility'. Referencing is often unclear, and the mechanical listing of steps disrupts the flow of the argument. Paragraphing is present, but overall internal cohesion and logical transitions are weak, which aligns with the Band 5 descriptor.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with noticeable errors that occasionally impede communication. Words are frequently misspelled or misused, such as 'incerasing' instead of increasing, 'strickly' instead of strictly, 'compaign' instead of campaign, and 'scurab' instead of scrap. The student attempts some less common terms like 'awareness compaign' and 'recycling plant', but inaccuracies in word choice, spelling, and collocation are frequent. The lexical range is minimally adequate for the task, fitting a Band 5 score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response features a very limited range of grammatical structures. Simple sentences dominate, and attempts at complex structures are frequently faulty and ungrammatical, such as 'The videos should be contains the message' and 'if found anyone breaking the law should be punish'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions ('at the outside of each home'). These numerous errors cause regular difficulty for the reader and restrict the grammar to a Band 4.5 or 5 level; given the positive marking approach, a band score of 5.0 is awarded.
