Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0
The response falls significantly short of the required 250-word minimum, containing only 136 words. Because of this severe under-length, the development of ideas is heavily constrained and fails to satisfy the full requirements of the task. Although the student does state a clear position ('I completely agree with those viewpoint') and attempts to address the prompt by mentioning financial benefits and pollution reduction, the arguments are extremely limited and under-developed. For instance, the claim that recycled products can be used for wildlife feeds is unclear and lacks adequate elaboration. Furthermore, the under-length penalty severely restricts the band score here, as key parts of the prompt are only touched upon superficially. To achieve a higher score in Task Achievement, the writer must expand their arguments with detailed explanations and relevant examples while meeting the minimum word count.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response shows an attempt at basic organisation through the use of cohesive markers such as 'One of main reason' and 'Moreover'. However, the overall coherence is significantly hindered by faulty paragraphing, confusing transitions, and mechanical linking. The second paragraph is overly dense and attempts to cram multiple disparate ideas—financial savings, recycling machines, and animal feed—into a single poorly structured section. Referencing is frequently unclear, such as the ambiguous pronoun use in 'this its can save' and 'that natural products'. Paragraphing is not used effectively to separate distinct points logically. While the general topic remains traceable, the lack of a clear overall progression and the poor management of cohesive devices place this criterion at Band 4.5.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The lexical range is very limited and heavily compromised by frequent spelling and word-choice errors that impede communication. Examples of vocabulary errors include 'Nowdays' instead of nowadays, 'homw wasted' instead of home waste, 'hotely' instead of hotly, 'garbiadge' instead of garbage, and 'temprature' instead of temperature. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'legally requirement' and 'polution', but these are used with notable inaccuracies in form and collocation ('Govt shold made a legal requirement'). The frequent misuse of basic and intermediate terms means the vocabulary is minimally adequate at best, resulting in a low band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent structural errors. There are constant issues with subject-verb agreement and tense consistency, such as 'Some people believe that they have needed to make law' and 'Govt shold made a legal requirement'. Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic throughout the text (e.g., 'IT also cause of increased in temprature'). Complex sentence forms are rarely attempted, and when they are, they contain persistent errors that frequently cause difficulty for the reader. The sheer density of grammatical errors across the short text prevents the response from reaching Band 5.0.
