Student answer (Band 5.0)

Some people claim that not sufficient of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement, I think laws are needed to make people recycle more of their waste because of save our enviorment. I'm writting about that below including my own exprience.

Plastic is very dangerous for our enviorment, it's destroys our sorounding enviorment. We mostly uses plastic bags for carried our stuff. When we should avoid this type of things, For example, we purchased something from the market the markter provide us a plastic bag to carry our important things. When our use is almost done we threw up outside and that moment we ruined our enviorment. Also we used plastic bottle for drinking. At this moment we need to prevent our plastic daily uses or we have a another option we can also recycle them. If we recycle them we don't produce more plastics

The government should be help for this, they can only increasing recycle product. For instance, if anyone throw plastic things on roads instead of trash bin, they will get hard punishment for that because they are not aware about nature. The government bring that law immedietly also government should add " Give plastic get MONEY". The policy will be we have a vending machine, we go there give them plastic bottle and they give us money the weight of plastics. That process help government a lot for increase recycling.

In conclusion, I think government bring law and strict about that, because our enviorments in our hand and if we are not focus on that it will be bigger problem for our climate. We have to protect our envioment and government can help us for that. So we should increase our recycle.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt partially, attempting to discuss whether laws are needed to enforce recycling. The writer states a position at the beginning and end, arguing that government legislation is necessary to protect the environment. However, the ideas are limited and under-developed. For example, the suggestion that the government should introduce a "Give plastic get MONEY" vending machine scheme is introduced abruptly and lacks sufficient expansion or clear connection to the legal requirement debate. Furthermore, the personal examples provided, such as purchasing items from the market and throwing plastic bags outside, are overly simplistic and anecdote-driven rather than addressing the broader social and economic implications of mandatory recycling laws. The content generally relates to the topic, but the overall development remains superficial, keeping the response at this level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay displays some organization with clear paragraph breaks separating the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, but there is no clear overall progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are frequently inadequate, inaccurate, or overused. For instance, the transition "At this moment" is used awkwardly to shift between sentences, and referencing is occasionally unclear, such as "when our use is almost done we threw up outside" where the pronoun and logical connection are muddled. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow within paragraphs is disjointed. Sentences are often strung together with commas or simple conjunctions without creating a smooth, logical thread of argument, resulting in a mechanical and repetitive style of linking thoughts.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is limited and minimally adequate for the task. The writer attempts some less common or topic-specific vocabulary, such as "environment," "punishment," and "vending machine," but these are accompanied by frequent noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and spelling that cause some difficulty for the reader. For example, words are frequently misspelled or misused, such as "enviorment," "writting," "exprience," "sorounding," "carried" instead of carrying, "threw up" instead of threw out, and "immedietly." Additionally, phrases like "we avoid this type of things" and "the government should be help for this" demonstrate awkward phrasing and lexical inaccuracy that restrict the range and precision of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

The writing demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with frequent attempts at complex structures that are heavily flawed. There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that cause difficulty for the reader. Issues include subject-verb agreement ("the markter provide us"), incorrect verb tenses ("we mostly uses", "we used plastic bottle"), missing articles ("only way", "government bring law"), and preposition errors. Sentence boundaries are also poorly managed, resulting in comma splices, such as in the introduction: "They say that only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement, I think laws are needed..." These persistent errors across basic and complex forms typify this level of grammatical control.
