Student answer (Band 5.0)
Recycling is the process in which we reuse previous things and use them in new shape. It is true that many waste material is not recycled in homes so, Government should take strict measures to increase recyle. There are many ways that can increase the recycle process such as Government should focus on separation of garbage if there is plastic or any other things which can recyle separately. There should be an honest people that can take these things in places where people can recyle that items. However, many houses throw grabage outside and others fires that garbage and it emits carbon di oxide that is harmful for environment. These things should be reduced. In my opinions Government should take garbage from homes they should knock the doors and take garbage after that that garbage should be transfered to that places where it can be recycled. Moreover, Government should separate biodegradable and non biodegradable things because non biodegradable things are harmful for crearures that must be recycled or taken to other sides. These things require efforts but it will provide benefits to government and people. State should provide awareness to people that waste material should be properly given to people who are taking garbage at the doors. Nations should know it that garbage is also important it can be reused againt than people can think seriouly and work on it. Therefore, it can be noticed that there is lack of waste material recyle in many homes that can be increased with certain efforts of government and their strict rules.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
The response addresses the task only partially. While the writer expresses a general position that the government should take strict measures and implement rules regarding waste management, the ideas remain limited and under-developed. For instance, the mention of separating biodegradable and non-biodegradable items and having people collect garbage at doors is introduced but lacks extension, specific examples, or a clear focus on whether laws are strictly necessary as prompted by the question. The discussion tends to generalise without fully exploring the extent to which legal requirements are needed compared to awareness campaigns. To move to a higher band, the writer needs to present a fully developed position with well-supported ideas and comprehensive coverage of all parts of the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
The response displays some organization, but there is no clear overall progression. The text is presented as a single, dense block of writing without paragraph breaks, making it difficult to follow the logical flow of ideas. Cohesive devices are used repetitively or inaccurately, such as the frequent reliance on words like 'These things', 'However', and 'Moreover' without precise referencing to antecedent clauses. Pronoun referencing is frequently unclear, leaving the reader to guess what 'these things' or 'it' refers to in various sentences. To improve cohesion, the writer must divide the essay into logical paragraphs (introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion) and use a wider, more accurate range of cohesive devices to connect ideas smoothly.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The writer uses a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary suitable for addressing the topic in a basic way. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward word choices, such as 'previous things' instead of 'existing items', 'fires that garbage' instead of 'burns rubbish', and 'crearures' instead of 'creatures'. Repetition of common words like 'garbage', 'recycle', and 'government' limits the lexical variety. While meaning is generally conveyed, these frequent inaccuracies and spelling errors cause some difficulty for the reader. To achieve a higher band, the writer should incorporate a wider, more precise range of vocabulary, including less common lexical items and collocations, while ensuring correct word formation and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The grammatical range is limited, relying mostly on simple and repetitive sentence structures. Attempts at complex sentences are often faulty and lack control over punctuation and clauses, as seen in run-on sentences like 'There is true that many waste material is not recycled in homes so, Government should take strict measures to increase recyle.' There are frequent errors in basic grammatical categories, including subject-verb agreement ('many waste material is', 'an honest people'), article usage ('the Government', 'a legal requirement'), and plurals ('that items', 'to that places'). These frequent errors can cause difficulty for the reader. To progress, the writer needs to demonstrate better control over complex sentence patterns, improve grammatical accuracy across various structures, and refine punctuation.
