Some people claim that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. They say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirement.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

Student answer (Band 4.5)

A vast majority of society holds the preception that not much amount of waste from houses is recycled. They precise that this can be inclined only for governements to make it a legal requirement. Indeed to my mind, I concor with this notion primarly due to the fact goverment can organise awareness campaigns and also it is beneficial for ecosystem, while it can be more expensive and dustructive.

To begin with the reasons of why enough waste from homes is not recycled. First and foremost, It consume more time to collect the things from waste of homes because houses waste are mostly wet and dusty. As a result, it is difficult to seprate the things which can be recycled such as plastic. Apart from this government and authorities can organise the awareness campaigns because through this citizens can participate more in recycling waste. For example, India organised a swatch bharat abhiyan for cleaning and recycling waste. Alternatively, if people do more recycling then this can not only save their extra expenses but also clean and benfits our ecosystem.

However, doing more recycling can have few demrits. Firstly, it is very expensive because it

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You state a position—“I concur with this notion”—and give relevant points about awareness campaigns, household waste being difficult to sort, and environmental benefits. However, the response only minimally answers the central question of how necessary laws are: it does not explain what legal requirements might achieve or whether education and incentives could work without them. The discussion of disadvantages is introduced but cut off at “it is very expensive because it,” leaving that point unsupported and the argument incomplete. The India example is relevant but needs explanation of how it demonstrates the effect of laws. The response is also 57 words below the required minimum, which limits the opportunity to develop and support your ideas. Address both sides and explain your position with specific reasoning and examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is a basic paragraph structure, and signposts such as “To begin with,” “First and foremost,” and “However” help show the intended direction of the response. The ideas within the main body are generally related to recycling, but the progression is not consistently clear: the opening says laws are needed, while the first body paragraph shifts between reasons for low recycling, government campaigns, and environmental benefits without clearly linking these points to the question of legal requirements. The final paragraph begins a counterargument but ends mid-sentence, so the response has no completed conclusion or balanced overall progression. Develop one main point per paragraph, use clear links between evidence and your position, and finish with a conclusion that directly answers the question.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “recycled,” “awareness campaigns,” “ecosystem,” and “legal requirement,” which makes the subject clear. There is also an attempt to vary expression with phrases such as “First and foremost” and “Apart from this.” However, spelling errors and inaccurate word choices are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause: “preception,” “precise,” “inclined,” and “dustructive” do not convey the intended meanings reliably. Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “not much amount of waste” and “houses waste.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. A more precise vocabulary range would help you explain the distinction between legal enforcement, public education, and voluntary recycling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, including a sentence with “because” and a result clause beginning “As a result.” These attempts show some range, but control is inconsistent, and errors can make parts difficult to follow. For example, “It consume more time” has a subject–verb agreement error, while “houses waste are mostly wet and dusty” has problems with number and sentence structure. The opening sentence also contains an unclear construction: “this can be inclined only for governements to make it a legal requirement.” The final sentence is incomplete, ending with “because it.” Practise building complete sentences with clear subjects and verbs, and check agreement, articles, and punctuation before submitting.
