Student answer (Band 5.5)

to commence with, this is most debate able topic in our locality weather some individuals claims that not enough of the waste from homes is recycled. they say that the only way to increase recycling is for governments to make it a legal requirements. according to my prospective that was completely wrong because we have lot's of waste in our home to recycle like plastic , metals etc . i believe govenment should make new laws for spreading awareness.

firstly and formost, government make new rules and regulation re needed to make people recycle more thier waste because if we can recycle our waste which was good for our environment , animals as well for human lifes additionally, if we not recycled our waste we produce water pollution and also effect on our animals for instance if we through our plastic bag anywhere sometimes these bags are eaten by animal after eating these bags they suffering from disease moreover , few times died from these bags .

the paradoxical side , government also make new laws to spreading awareness into people like first step was to launch two bins of different colour green and blue moreover, green use for decomposed waste like food waste which occur from kitchen and restaurant altough, blue one use for recycled item like platic, metal etc. these steps helps to make healthy environment however government should take action on those people who does not follow these rules will be fined rs.500.

to conclude, recycling is a vital part of our envionment we should follow government rules to make our planet healthy as well as also help in development and financial market.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant position: you reject the claim that laws are the only way to increase recycling, while supporting government action through awareness campaigns, separate bins and fines. The examples of plastic harming animals and colour-coded bins help explain your view. However, the response does not fully develop the extent to which laws are needed: it could distinguish legal requirements from education or incentives and explain why one approach is more effective. The conclusion is brief and does not clearly restate this balance. The response is also one word below the required 250 words; the 27 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop your reasoning and add a relevant example to address the question more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “firstly,” “moreover” and “to conclude” signal stages in the argument, and the bins-and-fines paragraph gives a concrete policy sequence. However, progression is not consistently clear: the opening moves from rejecting laws as the only solution to saying government should make laws, without explaining the distinction. Several connectors are used mechanically or inaccurately, including “the paradoxical side” and repeated “moreover,” while long sentences combine several points without clear boundaries. Organise each paragraph around one main claim, use linking phrases that express the actual relationship between ideas, and make references such as “these steps” precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt topic-specific vocabulary, including “recycled,” “decomposed waste,” “awareness” and “fined,” and the reader can generally identify your subject. However, the range is limited and many choices or spellings are inaccurate, which sometimes makes meaning harder to follow. Examples include “prospective” where “perspective” is intended, “platic” for “plastic,” and “financial market” in a conclusion where the intended connection to recycling is unclear. Phrases such as “healthy environment” and “make new laws to spreading awareness” are also imprecise or unnatural. Build a reliable set of collocations for waste management and environmental policy, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help express the argument without relying on repeated general terms such as “make” and “waste.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional structure beginning “if we can recycle our waste” and a sentence explaining the consequences of plastic bags being eaten by animals. However, complex sentences are often faulty, and frequent errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries can make the reader work to understand the meaning. For example, “government make new rules” needs a correctly formed verb, and “if we not recycled our waste” has an incorrect negative verb construction. The sentence beginning “first step was to launch two bins” also shifts awkwardly between past and present. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a subordinate clause, then check subject–verb agreement, tense and punctuation before adding further ideas.
