Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some individuals claim that not enough of the waste materiale from homes is recycled. They say that government should implement such laws that should help in increasing the recycling process and that is the only possible way. I agree with this statement that waste recyling process should be increased, but i also believe that law implementation is not the only way to overcome this problem.

Imposing law is one of the way to increase recycling of houshold waste items. Especially in Pakistan the concept of recycling is almost zero. Some people are not really care about recycle the waste product or not, they just through it away. In such areas strick laws should be implemented regarding the waste recycling and everyone should be bound that the only way to get rid of the waste is recycling.

Although, their are some leagal ways of increase recycling, but some other ways as well. One of the way is education. The government need to realize that their maybe not enough knowledge about that food can be recycled and can be benificial as well. For example, My cousin is living in Berlin and he told me yesterday, that in Germany u get paid when u recycle some wast , specifically he give me example of bottles. The government pay you on each bottle if uyouthrough it in an recycling ATM.

In conclusion, imposing laws is not the only solution to increase recycling of the wast products but their is also other ways to do it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both the need for laws and whether they are the only solution, and your position is clear: you support increasing recycling but reject legislation as the sole approach. The Pakistan example illustrates why rules might be useful, while the Germany bottle-return scheme supports your alternative of incentives; education is also relevant. However, some points are asserted rather than explained. For instance, saying people should be “bound” to recycle does not explain how a law would be enforced or what effect it would have. The education point is also brief, and the claim that food can be recycled is not clarified. Develop these ideas with specific reasoning and connect each example more explicitly to your argument.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your position, the body paragraphs present laws and alternatives, and the conclusion restates your view. The contrast between “Imposing law” and “Although” helps signal the shift in argument, and the examples are placed in relevant paragraphs. However, progression within paragraphs is sometimes abrupt, and some references are unclear. In “Although, their are some leagal ways of increase recycling, but some other ways as well,” the relationship between the ideas is difficult to follow. The final paragraph repeats the introduction rather than drawing the two approaches together. Use clearer topic sentences and linking expressions, and make each paragraph develop one main point in a more deliberate sequence.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “recycling,” “household waste,” “education,” and “implemented,” and the Germany example introduces the useful phrase “get paid.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make the writing less precise, such as “waste materiale,” “recyling,” “strick laws,” and “wast products.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “increase the recycling process” and “legal ways of increase recycling.” Aim for accurate topic-specific collocations and check spelling carefully. For example, “increase recycling rates” is more natural than “increase the recycling process,” while “strict regulations” is more precise than “strick laws.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrastive opening with “Although” and a conditional idea about what people should do. Meaning is generally recoverable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms reduce accuracy. Examples include “Some people are not really care,” “One of the way,” and “The government need to realize.” The sentence beginning “Although” is also incomplete in its construction because it combines “Although” with “but” without forming a clear main clause. Practise building complete sentences with accurate subject–verb agreement and singular/plural forms. Breaking the long sentence about the bottle-return scheme into two sentences would also help you control grammar and punctuation.
