Student answer (Band 5.5)

A group of people claim that there is no enough waste from homes that is recycled. They also propose a solution that the only way of increasing recycling of waste is has to be goverment to make it mandatory as a legal requirement.

Overall, in my opinion there is need of law enforcement to intend people to make sustainable products from recycling

Firstly, according to my thoughts its should be neccessary for local bodies to compele people to do recycling from waste product because we reside in a society where we have little knowledege of renewale resources and if the waste goes unchecked it cause contamination of natural resources like water and soil.

Enforcing a command should be consider an option but first we have to build a sense of responsibility that recycling is a need of time and it can only be done by arranging seminars and educational workshops so everyone will feel the responsibility and benifical effects of recyling.

Now,if we talk about the opinion of individuals that goverment bodies shuould be responsible for people to make recycling mandatory. However, its not only the job of government but also local community also play role in makig recycling a common habit

In the end, the conclusive thoughts would be that recyling is a need of hour and both local body and community should go hand in hand to make recycling common so we can save our resources as well as the habitat like marine so we can make world a place more liveable

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You give a relevant overall position: laws may help, but education and community involvement are also important. This responds to the question, and the points about pollution and workshops provide some support. However, the extent to which laws are needed remains unclear: you mention enforcement as necessary, then argue that responsibility should be shared, without explaining whether legal requirements are essential or merely helpful. The ideas are also under-developed. For example, you identify water and soil contamination but do not explain how household recycling laws would reduce it or give a concrete example. State your position more precisely and develop each reason with an explanation or example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a recognisable structure, with an opening, supporting points and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Now” and “In the end” help signal movement between ideas. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the discussion shifts from legal enforcement to education and then to shared responsibility without showing how these points fit together. Some linking is mechanical, and the sentence beginning “Now, if we talk about the opinion of individuals” is difficult to follow because its relationship to the previous point is unclear. Paragraphing would also help separate the introduction, main arguments and conclusion. Organise the body around a clear sequence, such as the benefits and limits of laws, followed by complementary educational measures.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “recycling,” “renewable resources,” “contamination,” “responsibility” and “marine habitat,” so the subject is generally identifiable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making meaning less clear. For instance, “intend people to make sustainable products from recycling” does not express your point naturally, while “do recycling from waste product” and “need of hour” are awkward formulations. Spelling errors such as “goverment,” “neccessary” and “benifical” are also noticeable. Build a more precise set of phrases for discussing policy and household waste, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and longer sentences, including a conditional clause in “if the waste goes unchecked,” and you use connectors to relate ideas. However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Examples include “there is no enough waste,” “it should be necessary,” and “if the waste goes unchecked it cause contamination,” where sentence construction, agreement or verb form is inaccurate. The opening also contains the malformed sequence “is has to be government to make it mandatory.” These errors recur and can make the reader work to understand your meaning. Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking agreement, articles and punctuation in each sentence.
