Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 5.5)
Some individuals believes that recycling of house waste is not happening so well. They argue that authorities should make laws for this act. I totally agree with this because recycling on large scale is not possible without Government intervention.
Pollution is an emerging issue throughout the globe. A number of NGOs, private organizations and welfare groups are working on this issue. They are trying to bring awearness among people regarding pollution and recycling, But due to shortage of resources they are not able to overcome such issue. Although, government is taking its part in this activity but with in limited scale. It is because of lack of systematic rules and regulations. This leads to increase in pollution. For this arising problem, the concern authority show make rules and regulations for recycling of wastes. Similarly, government should establish recycling centers in residential area. which will increase the level of recycling.
I believe that, law should be passed for this act in which the authorities mention rewards for recycling. By proclaimation of such news people will start taking interest in this act and will help the government. For instance, If government set any reward in considration of recycling then people from all over the state will take part in it and will help the concern authorities in this activity. Furthermore , Government should charge those who throw garbage in residential area instead of taking it to the recycling centers.
In conclusion, Although it is right that there is no enough recycling happening but it can be increase by the government by establishing rule and regulations for it similarly they should make centers for it to make it more easy for the citizens to take part in it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
Your position is clear from the introduction: you agree that government intervention is needed, and the essay stays focused on recycling household waste. You give relevant proposals, including establishing recycling centres, rewarding recycling and charging people who dispose of rubbish improperly. The example of a government reward helps illustrate how incentives might encourage participation. However, some points are asserted rather than explained: the discussion of NGOs and limited resources does not clearly show why legal requirements are necessary, and the final paragraph mainly repeats earlier proposals. Develop the distinction between laws and supporting measures—for example, explain how penalties or mandatory sorting would change behaviour, while centres make compliance practical. This would make the argument more fully supported and balanced across the task’s ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. The ideas generally move from the pollution problem to government action and then to incentives and penalties. Linking expressions such as “Although,” “For instance” and “Furthermore” help signal relationships between points. At times, however, the progression is less clear: the first body paragraph shifts from NGOs to government rules and then to recycling centres without fully connecting these points. Some transitions are also mechanical, and the conclusion repeats the same recommendations rather than drawing the argument together. Use clearer topic sentences and explain how each supporting point relates to the central claim that laws are needed; this would make the organisation more consistently logical.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “recycling centres,” “rules and regulations,” “pollution” and “rewards,” so the main ideas are understandable. There are also attempts at more formal expressions, such as “government intervention” and “residential area.” However, word choice and collocation are sometimes inaccurate or repetitive: “recycling of house waste” is less natural than “household waste recycling,” and “overcome such issue” does not fit the intended meaning. Spelling errors such as “awearness,” “proclaimation” and “considration” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general terms like “act” and “activity” with specific wording would add flexibility and clarity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession clause beginning “Although” and a conditional example beginning “If government set any reward.” This shows some range, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. However, several grammatical errors recur. Subject–verb agreement is incorrect in “Some individuals believes,” while “the concern authority show make rules” contains errors in both the noun phrase and verb construction. There are also problems with articles, plurals and sentence boundaries, as in “in residential area. which will increase…” and “there is no enough recycling happening.” Work on agreement, article use and complete sentence construction, then proofread punctuation and capitalisation. More accurate control of these patterns would make the complex sentences easier to follow.
