Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify recycling as the topic and give a general view that governments should make laws and that recycling can create business opportunities. However, the response only minimally answers the central question: it does not explain clearly how necessary laws are, or compare legal requirements with other ways to encourage recycling. The examples about cans, plastic boxes and factories are relevant, but they are brief and do not support a developed argument. The opening also misstates the prompt by saying governments should make “illegal requirements,” which makes your position difficult to understand. The response is 47 words below the required minimum, leaving too little space to explain and support your ideas. State your position directly, then develop reasons and specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Linking phrases such as “To being with,” “Moving further” and “In conclusion” signal paragraph roles, and the discussion stays broadly on recycling. However, the ideas do not progress clearly: the first body paragraph repeats that waste can be recycled into products, while the next shifts to business opportunities without explaining how this answers whether laws are needed. Some sentences are difficult to connect, and references such as “this waste” and “this” are not always precise. Build each paragraph around one distinct reason, explain it in sequence, and use linking expressions only where they show a genuine relationship between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use basic topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “waste,” “plastic,” “products” and “factory,” so the reader can identify the subject. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “new designs” and “business opportunity.” However, the vocabulary is repetitive and several inaccurate choices make meaning unclear, including “illegal requirements,” “different categories” and “new variety.” Spelling errors such as “watse,” “exaple,” “bussiness” and “govenment” further reduce clarity. Aim to use precise phrases for the task, such as “make recycling compulsory,” “household waste” and “recycled materials,” and check spelling carefully. Vary repeated words like “products” by naming the materials or items more specifically.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple sentences and longer structures, including an example introduced by “For example” and a concluding statement beginning “In conclusion.” However, sentence structures are limited, and errors in agreement, verb forms, articles and sentence construction occur frequently. For instance, “some things of waste is recycle” has problems with both the subject and verb form, while “which is used our daily life” is missing a necessary preposition and has an unclear reference. The sentence beginning “To explain it” also combines several ideas without a clear grammatical structure. Practise forming accurate subject–verb sentences first, then add clauses using “which” or “because.” Check that each sentence has a clear subject and a correctly formed verb.
