Student answer (Band 5.5)

In recent years, the amount of the waste is increasing in the world and also it is a serious issue for the individuals;however, some groups of individuals believe that governments should make strict laws and regulation for the reducing waste and recycling.I strongly agree with this statement and I will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.

There are multiple reasons of governement should make legal requirement for recycling. The first and foremost, government has power and authority to make rules and regulation for the development of the nations. In other words, we are living in the consumer culture and also we are use a various kinds of product which we can use and throw away from our house and it creates wastage in the society.Additionally, nowadays we use a single use products such as plastics product and a more packaging products. These are the products create a wide range of garbage, and it is very harmful for the environment. As a result,if government can take responsibilities to reduce wastage and make rules for the recycling ,it can be very helpful for the environment.

Furthermore, also governments should awareness among the people to organize of campains in the society. To elaborate,if more and more individuals can participate in the campainging programs, it can help in awareness in the society of recycling and a majority of people can do recycling and help in reducing their waste and use a reusable products in their home. Thus, it is beneficial for the individuals and also environment. For example,in many foreign countries recycling is the most necessary in the society and it is very beneficial for the environment.

In conclusion, government should impose strict rules and regulation about the recycling in their nation because it is very helpful in reducing waste in the society as per my opinion.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

Your position is clear: you strongly support government action, and the response stays focused on household waste and recycling. You give relevant reasons, including the growth of disposable products and the potential value of public campaigns. However, the task asks how far laws are needed, and the essay does not fully explain whether legal requirements are essential or how they would change household behaviour. The second main point shifts towards awareness campaigns, without clarifying how these complement or differ from laws. The example about “many foreign countries” is too general to provide convincing support. Develop one specific example and explain the likely effect of a law, such as separating waste or imposing penalties, to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, with the main ideas generally presented in a sensible order. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections are mechanical or unclear. For example, “Furthermore, also” repeats the same linking function, while the move from legal requirements to awareness campaigns is not explained. Several sentences contain multiple ideas joined together, making the progression harder to follow, particularly in the paragraph about disposable products. Use clearer topic sentences and divide long sentences so that each paragraph develops one central point and the links between ideas are more precise.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use vocabulary relevant to the topic, including “consumer culture,” “single use products,” “recycling,” and “reusable products,” and you attempt to express ideas about environmental harm and government responsibility. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive. Phrases such as “make strict laws and regulation for the reducing waste,” “do recycling,” and “help in awareness” are not natural English and sometimes make the intended meaning less clear. There are also spelling errors, including “governement” and “campains.” Aim to learn topic-specific phrases as complete collocations, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help distinguish legal enforcement from education and public participation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including conditional structures such as “if government can take responsibilities … it can be very helpful” and clauses beginning with “which” and “because.” This shows some range, but control is inconsistent: many sentences contain errors in agreement, articles, verb forms, or sentence construction. For instance, “we are use a various kinds” has an incorrect verb form and article, while “These are the products create” lacks a relative marker or suitable verb structure. Punctuation is also unreliable, with missing spaces after commas and semicolons. These errors sometimes make sentences difficult to process. Practise building accurate subject–verb patterns and checking each sentence for a complete main clause before adding further ideas.
