Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
The response is relevant to recycling and mentions possible benefits of legal enforcement, including the example of Germany and Japan. However, it only minimally answers the central question: whether laws are needed, and to what extent. The essay shifts towards general waste problems and solutions such as education, social media, and door-to-door collection, without clearly stating whether these measures should accompany or replace legal requirements. The examples are also brief and not explained, so the reader cannot see how they support a definite position. To strengthen the response, state your view directly in the introduction and conclusion, then develop two or three reasons that specifically explain how laws can increase household recycling and what limits or alternatives they may have.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
There is a basic paragraph structure, moving from an introduction to problems, proposed solutions, and a conclusion. Some links between ideas are understandable, and the response stays broadly focused on waste and recycling. However, progression is not consistently clear: the opening promises to discuss problems and solutions, while the task asks about the need for laws. The second paragraph combines health effects, chemical waste, and country examples without clearly showing how each point connects to the argument. The third paragraph also moves abruptly from education to government action. Use topic sentences that answer the question, organise each paragraph around one main point, and use linking phrases to show contrast or cause and effect rather than relying on loosely connected statements.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The response uses some relevant topic vocabulary, including “recycling,” “landfill,” “pharmaceutical products,” and “waste management.” This gives the reader a basic sense of the subject. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, such as “home wastage,” “medical effect,” and “recycling process should be increase.” Spelling errors, including “awarness,” “confernces,” and “recyled,” also reduce clarity and control. Aim to use precise phrases such as “household waste,” “health effects,” and “increase recycling rates,” and check spelling carefully. More varied language for legislation, incentives, and public participation would help express the argument more precisely.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts some longer structures, including the opening contrast beginning “Although” and the sentence about chemicals and animals, but control is inconsistent. Errors occur frequently in verb forms and agreement: “this wastage threaten,” “Waste come,” and “The government take.” There are also problems with sentence boundaries and punctuation, such as the fragment “Although this wastage threaten many societies” and several sentences joined or separated with commas inappropriately. These errors sometimes make relationships between ideas difficult to follow. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses with correct punctuation. Pay particular attention to subject–verb agreement, past and present forms, and ensuring that every sentence has a complete main clause.
