Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people clain that waste produced from household is not recycled completely, and the only way to increase recycling is by making it as a legal requirement by the government. I completely agree with this view because people only take this issue seriously when a government action is taken on.

One major reason why I am agree with this because people would not ignore when the recycling process made into a law and they do not ignore it as they should pay for the penalty.

This is because, they will be cautious on recycling the household waste than before as it would cost them to spend their money and people will be aware of that. For instance, people who are throwing plastic bottles and Tin cans in environment should pay the fine or 500 Rupees, likewise if the goverment implement these rules people will be more carefull in the recycling of waste.

Another Important reason is that government could implement facility centre to recycle the waste which would encourage the people to paticipate and to increase the recycling process in our daily life. This means that if the equipment for recycling of the non bio-degradable wastes are been installed in exchange for some credit points or money in our localities, people will be motivated to collect the waste and recycle it properly for the rewards. For instance, in many US countries people have a machine to dump all their plastic things inside it and in exchange they would get some credit points or coupons, by using this they can buy essesntials from the store. Consequently, People would be more interested in these kind of recycling schemes and come forward to do it.

In conclusion, I believe that if government would take legan action such as making the law more strict, implementing facility centre would lead to a efficient increase in the recycling.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

Your position is clear from the introduction: you completely agree that government action is needed. Both body paragraphs give relevant reasons, including penalties for improper disposal and incentives such as credit points or coupons, and the examples help illustrate these ideas. However, the response does not fully explain why laws are the only or necessary way to increase recycling; the second paragraph shifts towards providing facilities and rewards, which could work without a legal requirement. The penalty example is also brief, and the claim that people will recycle because they fear fines could be explained more carefully. To strengthen the response, connect each reason directly to the role of legislation and develop the examples further, while maintaining your clear position throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure, with an introduction, two body paragraphs and a conclusion. Each body paragraph focuses on a main point, and signposts such as “For instance” and “Consequently” help show examples and results. Overall, the ideas are arranged coherently. However, some links are mechanical or unclear: “One major reason why I am agree with this because” does not form a clear connection, and the second paragraph moves from government facilities to rewards without clearly explaining how these relate to laws. The conclusion also combines several ideas in a way that makes the final relationship difficult to follow. Use more precise links between claims, explanations and examples, and make sure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your main ideas, including “recycling process,” “penalty,” “non bio-degradable wastes,” “credit points” and “rewards.” These choices show an attempt to discuss policy and practical incentives rather than relying only on basic terms. However, spelling and word-choice errors are noticeable, as in “clain,” “goverment,” “carefull” and “legan action.” Some phrases are also unnatural or imprecise, such as “facility centre,” “in many US countries” and “increase the recycling.” These do not prevent the reader from understanding the overall argument, but they reduce precision and fluency. Check spelling carefully and learn common collocations for waste management, such as “recycling facilities” and “increase recycling rates.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including conditional structures such as “if the equipment … are been installed” and clauses explaining consequences. This gives the response some structural variety, and the main message is generally understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles and sentence construction remain. For example, “I am agree” should be “I agree,” while “the equipment … are been installed” has an incorrect verb form and agreement. The opening sentence also has an awkward passive construction, and the final sentence lacks a clear grammatical structure. Practise accurate conditional sentences and review subject–verb agreement and verb forms; then proofread each sentence to ensure its clauses connect correctly.
