Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the task by identifying the main features of the underground systems. However, the overview is unclear and lacks a strong summary of the trends. While the data is presented, the comparisons are often confusing or inaccurate (e.g., stating London is the third highest in passengers while listing 775, but failing to clearly contrast this with Tokyo's 1927). The information is presented in a somewhat disjointed manner, and the lack of clear analytical focus prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure the overview highlights the most significant differences, such as the disparity between the oldest system (London) and the newest (Los Angeles).

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and poor sentence structure. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Finally', and 'However', but they are often applied incorrectly or in a way that does not improve the flow of ideas. The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between cities. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks coherence, leading to a repetitive and disjointed presentation of the data.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is limited and repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'new innovation main features' and 'passengers list was 144'. The student struggles to use precise terminology related to data description (e.g., 'covered 394 kilometers of route' is used repeatedly). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of variety and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'passengrrs', 'sic') indicate a limited range that is just adequate for the task.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences are often grammatically incorrect. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement, punctuation, and article usage (e.g., 'in this main six cities', 'it's was opened date'). These errors are persistent and occasionally make the text difficult to read. The lack of control over basic sentence construction and the high frequency of grammatical slips significantly limit the clarity of the report.
