Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully identified the main features of the table, such as the highest and lowest passenger numbers. You have also made relevant comparisons between the cities. However, the report lacks a clear overview of the relationship between the age of the systems and their size or usage. Additionally, some data points are presented in a way that is slightly confusing, such as stating 'were 775 passengers' instead of 'carried 775 million passengers'. To improve, ensure you include the unit of measurement (millions) consistently, as omitting this makes the data inaccurate.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The response is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the information. You use some cohesive devices like 'Whereas' and 'Moving ahead' to transition between ideas. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or unnatural, such as 'At the fleeting glance'. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be improved by using more varied linking phrases to connect the data points more fluidly rather than just listing them city by city.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the information, using terms like 'calibrated', 'experienced', and 'traveled'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'the higher no of passengers' (should be 'the highest number') and 'which last the second lowest' (should be 'which was the second lowest'). The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and sophistication required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'the underground railway system of six different cities' (missing 'the' before 'six'), 'were 775 passengers' (missing the subject), and 'Tokyo in 1927 was the highest among the all' (incorrect use of 'the all'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the main points, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency of the writing.
