Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all the required data points, including dates, route lengths, and passenger numbers. However, the presentation of data is often inaccurate. For example, you state Kyoto has '5 million' passengers, but the table shows 45 million. Similarly, the passenger figure for Paris is listed as 119 million, whereas the table shows 1191 million. These inaccuracies in reporting the data significantly impact the task achievement score. While you attempt to make comparisons, the lack of precision in data extraction and the failure to clearly highlight the most significant trends (such as the contrast between the oldest system and the busiest system) prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes misused, such as 'whire as' and 'holweer'. Referencing is also unclear at times, particularly when listing multiple figures for different cities in the same sentence, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison. The transition between the introduction, body paragraphs, and the conclusion is abrupt, and the logical flow is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, relying heavily on the words provided in the prompt. There are numerous spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'talele' (table), 'raillury' (railway), 'statetion' (station), 'travell' (travel), and 'bast' (least). These errors are frequent and occasionally make the text difficult to read. There is little evidence of an attempt to use a wider range of vocabulary or to paraphrase the information effectively. To improve, you should focus on accurate spelling and using synonyms to describe trends and data points.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that impede communication. There are consistent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'London railury statetion is oldest opened', 'Paris, Toky and washing DC was opened'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Sentence structures are generally simple and often fragmented. The punctuation is also inconsistent, with periods placed incorrectly within sentences, breaking the flow of thought. While there is an attempt to use complex structures, these are almost always marred by errors, making the writing difficult to follow.
