Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully identified the main features of the table, including the oldest and newest systems, as well as the extremes in route length and passenger numbers. However, the report lacks a clear, cohesive summary of the data. While you mention the cities, the comparison between them is somewhat disjointed. To improve, ensure you group the data more logically—for example, by comparing the older, established systems with the newer ones, or by highlighting the contrast between high-traffic cities like Tokyo and low-traffic ones like Kyoto. The data is accurate, but the analysis could be more insightful by focusing on the relationship between the age of the system and its usage.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'In addition', and 'Similarly' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. For instance, the transition into the final paragraph regarding passenger numbers could be smoother. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'The city which was Kyoto among all the cities were build it in 1981', which is syntactically awkward and disrupts the logical progression of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey the necessary information, such as 'established', 'underground railway system', and 'route'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and awkward phrasing, such as 'largest amount of passengers were travelled' (should be 'highest number of passengers') and 'Paris followed to make railways system' (should be 'followed suit by constructing'). These errors occasionally impede the natural flow of the writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive sentence structures.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('largest amount of passengers were travelled', 'Kyoto and Los Angeles people were traveled') and incorrect verb forms ('were build it'). There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding the data, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your accuracy.
