Student answer (Band 5.0)

the table chart gives data about the six cities which is belowground railway system.

Overall,in numbers the highest kilometers of route is london and the least is kyoto. With the passing of years we can clearly see that there will be a huge fall in kilometers of routes. If we view the passengerds per year the poeple in high range is in tokyo but the induce amount is in kyoto.

In the city london the year 1863 and the kilometers of route is 394.If we see the passengers per years is lower then tokyo and higher then both kyoto and los angeles. if we compare the years between 1863 to 2001 there will be decreasing kilometers of route in 1863 the kilometers route is 394 and in 2001 the rate is 28 which clearly shows that routes is lowering with time to time.

Furthermore 775 passengers per year are present in london, 1191 in paris ,1927 which is improving stage of passengers per year,144 in washington DC there is a huge fall in passengers in kyoto 45, and losangels has 50 passengers.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response attempts to summarize the data but fails to accurately interpret the information. The claim that 'there will be a huge fall in kilometers of routes' based on the dates is a misinterpretation of the data; the table shows when systems opened, not a trend over time. Furthermore, the comparison of passenger numbers is confusing and lacks clarity. While the main features are mentioned, the analysis is flawed, and the report does not provide a clear, accurate overview of the provided statistics. To improve, focus on reporting the data as it is presented rather than inferring trends that do not exist in the table.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is weak. The transition between the overview and the body paragraphs is abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is mechanical and sometimes inaccurate (e.g., 'Furthermore' is used to introduce a list of figures that do not logically follow the previous point). The referencing is often unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the comparison between cities. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear, singular focus would significantly enhance the coherence of the response.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. Phrases like 'huge fall', 'lower then', and 'improving stage' are used, which are either imprecise or grammatically incorrect. There is a lack of variety in the language used to describe trends and comparisons. To reach a higher band, you should incorporate more precise vocabulary related to data description, such as 'the longest route', 'the highest volume of passengers', or 'a significant disparity'. Additionally, ensure that you use comparative adjectives correctly, such as 'lower than' instead of 'lower then'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'the highest kilometers of route is london'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward sentence structures. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. The range of structures is limited to simple sentences, with few attempts at complex grammatical forms. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring that subjects and verbs agree and that punctuation is used correctly to separate distinct ideas.
