Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You report figures for all six cities and identify Tokyo as having the highest annual passenger total, while London has the longest route and is the oldest system. These are relevant main features. However, the overview is unclear and incomplete: “in this least Paris on the second” does not explain the ranking, and the final comparison about London is unfinished. Some descriptions also misinterpret the data, such as calling Tokyo the “most bussy … station” rather than distinguishing passenger numbers from route length. To strengthen the response, give a clear overview of the main contrasts, then compare the systems accurately—for example, Tokyo carries the most passengers despite having a shorter route than London and Paris.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response is divided into paragraphs and generally moves from the older systems to the newer ones, so the reader can follow the broad sequence. However, progression is weakened by repeated sentence openings such as “And the other station” and “And other subway station,” as well as frequent use of “which” to join incomplete thoughts. The overview appears at the end and is difficult to understand, rather than clearly summarising the comparisons. Grouping the cities by a meaningful feature—such as the largest systems and the smaller, newer ones—and using direct links like “By contrast” would make the organisation clearer. Ensure each paragraph has a clear purpose and that comparisons connect the figures rather than simply listing them.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “route,” “passengers,” “established,” and “per year,” which helps convey the subject. However, the range is limited and several choices are inaccurate or informal: “station” is used for an entire railway system, “passenger flow” is awkward here, and “bussy” and “well know” are misspelled. There are also repeated basic terms such as “made” and “deal,” which make the descriptions less precise. Use standard data-reporting language and check spelling carefully. More accurate collocations would help you describe the table clearly without relying on conversational expressions such as “many peoples” or “rushed.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The response attempts to combine information using clauses, but many sentences are fragments or contain faulty clause connections. For example, “Which establish in 1863” and “Which is made in 1927” cannot stand alone as complete sentences, while “And the other station … which is made in 1900” leaves the main clause unclear. Verb forms and agreement are also inconsistent, as in “the carries about 1927 million passenger.” Articles, plurals, and punctuation are frequently problematic, including “in a London” and the comma spacing in “1863 ,”. Build complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use a consistent past form for opening dates and present forms for current figures. Practising accurate simple comparisons before adding subordinate clauses will improve control.
