Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You cover all the main features and provide a clear overview: London is identified as the oldest and longest system, Los Angeles as the newest, and Tokyo and Kyoto as having the highest and lowest annual passenger figures. The body also reports the key figures for all six cities and makes relevant comparisons, including the contrast between the larger systems and Kyoto and Los Angeles. This meets the task well. Some details could be expressed more precisely: the introduction says passengers are carried “every day,” although the table gives annual totals, and the final summary repeats general differences without adding a sharper comparison, such as Tokyo’s passenger total being far higher than London’s despite its shorter route. More precise selection and comparison would strengthen the overview.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, an overview, and body paragraphs that group the older and larger systems before discussing Kyoto and Los Angeles. This makes the information easy to follow, and transitions such as “In comparison” and “Finally” help signal movement between points. However, some linking is mechanical, and the long section covering Paris, Tokyo, and Washington DC runs several facts together without clear sentence boundaries. The concluding sentence also repeats the overview rather than adding a useful final comparison. Use more deliberate paragraphing and vary how comparisons are connected; ensure each sentence presents one clearly organised set of figures.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “route,” “annually,” “opened,” and “passengers,” and the meaning is generally clear. There are also attempts at varied phrasing, such as “carries” and “serves.” Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or repetitive, however: “passengers they carry every day” conflicts with the annual data, “it serve” is not an appropriate form, and “route cover” is unnatural. Capitalisation of common nouns such as “passengers” and “railway” is inconsistent, and “Stared” appears to be a spelling error. Aim for precise, consistent terms such as “annual passenger numbers” and “route length,” and check spelling and word forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including sentences joined with “and” and the comparison beginning “In comparison.” The main information remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “It serve 1191 millions Passengers” has subject–verb agreement and plural-form problems, while “Tokyo Underground Railway Stared operating 1927” is missing a suitable verb construction and the preposition “in.” The sentence about Tokyo also joins several clauses without clear punctuation, making its structure difficult to follow. There are some accurate sentences, but control is not consistent. Practise accurate past-tense reporting, agreement, articles and sentence boundaries, then proofread each sentence for a complete grammatical structure.
