Student answer (Band 5.5)
Details pertaining to the information of underground railway syatems in six cities are delineated by the provided table.
Overall, it can be clearly seen that the route of London was the firstly opened and the longest route among the other cities. As well as, Tokyo contains largest amount of passengers since
1927.
Scrutinizing deeper into the table, it can be observed that Kyoto has smallest route precisely 11 kilometers with minimum numbers of passengers exaxt 45 million per year from 1981 to now. London contains less than doubled numbers of passengers in million per year by route of travel about 394km.
Digging deeper into the chart, Los Angeles and Washington DC are moderate in travel area by traveling moderate kilometers per year and carring passengers per year in million by slightly less than a half of a passenger history.
Hereby, I conclude my report.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the table’s subject and give an overview that correctly notes London’s early opening and longest route, and Tokyo’s high passenger total. However, the report covers the figures only partially: it omits Paris almost entirely and gives no accurate comparison of the opening dates across all six systems. Some details are unclear or incorrect, such as saying Kyoto’s figures apply “from 1981 to now” and describing Washington DC and Los Angeles as “moderate” without reporting their actual values. The response is also six words below the required minimum. To improve, select the key contrasts and support them with precise figures—for example, Tokyo carries 1,927 million passengers, while Kyoto carries 45 million.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The response has a basic structure: an introduction, an overview, and a paragraph with further details. Linking phrases such as “Overall” and “Scrutinizing deeper” signal movement between sections, so the reader can follow the general direction. However, progression is uneven: the final paragraph groups Los Angeles and Washington DC without explaining a meaningful comparison, and “Hereby, I conclude my report” adds no information. Some connections are also unclear, particularly the sentence about London’s passenger numbers and route length. Organise the body around clear comparisons, such as older versus newer systems or route length versus passenger use, and use linking words only where they clarify the relationship between facts.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of formal and descriptive vocabulary, including “delineated,” “Scrutinizing,” and “Digging deeper,” and use relevant terms such as “route” and “passengers.” However, several choices are inaccurate or unnatural for describing a data table: “the firstly opened,” “contains largest amount,” and “moderate in travel area” make the meaning less precise. Spelling errors such as “syatems,” “exaxt,” and “carring” also detract from clarity. Aim for straightforward, accurate data-reporting language rather than ornate phrases. For example, “London has the longest route” and “Tokyo records the highest annual passenger figure” express the comparisons clearly and naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple statements and longer sentences, and the overall meaning is usually recoverable. There are attempts at subordinate structures, such as “it can be observed that Kyoto has…” However, sentence control is inconsistent. In “Tokyo contains largest amount of passengers since 1927,” the article is missing and the time expression does not fit the intended comparison. “Kyoto has smallest route” also needs an article, while “London contains less than doubled numbers” has faulty number and comparative structure. The sentence about Los Angeles and Washington DC is difficult to follow because its clauses are not clearly connected. Practise accurate comparative forms and articles, and build each sentence around one clear comparison.
