Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You identify the table’s subject and report several important figures, including Tokyo’s highest annual passenger total and Kyoto’s lowest, as well as London’s early opening and extensive route. However, the overview is limited and does not clearly summarise the main contrasts across all six systems. Some comparisons are inaccurate or unclear: Paris is described as having the “lowest kilometer according to london,” although its route is shorter than London’s, not the shortest overall. The response also gives little synthesis of the newer, smaller systems compared with the older networks. To strengthen the report, provide a precise overview of the oldest/largest system and the highest-use system, then compare the figures accurately and consistently.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The response has a basic sequence: it introduces the table, gives a brief overview, and then discusses the cities in roughly chronological order. Linking expressions such as “after that,” “furthermore,” and “at last” help signal movement between details. However, progression is not consistently clear, and some transitions are inaccurate or awkward; “now 4 cities are illustrate at first” does not clearly explain how the next group relates to the previous one. The long final paragraph combines four cities without clear sentence boundaries, making comparisons difficult to follow. Use distinct paragraphs for the overview and grouped details, and connect figures with clear comparison language rather than relying on repeated sequencing phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
You use some task-related vocabulary, including “underground railway systems,” “kilometers of route,” and “passengers per year,” so the topic is generally recognisable. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, sometimes making the data hard to interpret. For example, “travelled 11 meters” confuses route length with distance travelled, while “passanger are engage” does not convey annual passenger numbers. Spelling errors such as “passangers,” “killometer,” and “openned” are also noticeable. Aim for precise data-reporting language and check spelling; terms such as “route length,” “annual ridership,” and “recorded” would be more suitable.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt to combine information using clauses, for example, “London is the first date opened in 1863 with kilometer of route 394,” but sentence structures are often incomplete or faulty. Subject–verb agreement is inconsistent in “The given table illustrate,” and tense and article use are also unreliable. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, particularly the final paragraph, which makes relationships between the figures difficult to understand. Most statements follow a simple pattern, with limited control of more varied structures. Practise writing complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and use consistent present-tense reporting language, for example: “The table shows that London’s system opened in 1863 and has a route length of 394 kilometres.”
