IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.0)
Rich has the opportunity to assist others,it is the major concerning thing about being rich.In my opinion, rich person has a quality to help needy one but it aslo depends upon the heart of a rich person ,not every rich person is kind hearted.
I believe, having wealth is a God gifted thing
God has divided the world into two distinct catagories Rich and Poor.In my view,God initially put noble qualities in the heart of a prosperous personalities to they help and support other people. In my opinion, rich people have opportunity to sympathise with other poor and deprived ones which make their status high in society and it motivates them to do more sympathetic actions.
It is considered by many that, this world has different privileged classes , not every “rich person has a rich heart” so it is entirely depend upon a heart of wealthy individual.luxurious people mostly respect their own desires and they disrespectfully ignore underprivileged ones.
Some people think that ,These betrayal individuals are mostly upper elite class, they work for their own benefits and profits who don’t care about life of a poor man. Furthermore some people support the opinion that , high class people rule the world system and they regulate the whole system according to their own gain and loss and they are called profiteers those who rule the Earth.
To conclude, rich people do numerous more for this world for the alleviation of poverty if they truly see “a man as a man not as an animal”
God has given many blessings to the rich.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the question by arguing that wealthy people have the opportunity to help others, while acknowledging that not all of them are generous. This gives your response a relevant, though not fully consistent, position: the opening supports the statement, but later paragraphs focus more on selfish elites and social inequality. The idea that helping others can raise a person’s standing and encourage further charitable action is relevant, but it needs a specific example or clearer explanation. The claims about God assigning people to rich and poor categories and wealthy people ruling the world are broad and do not directly explain how important helping others is compared with other aspects of wealth. Develop a consistent degree of agreement and support it with focused reasons.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The response has an introduction, several body paragraphs and a conclusion, and the reader can identify the broad contrast between generous and selfish wealthy people. However, progression between ideas is difficult to follow: the discussion moves from wealth as a gift to social status, then to elite profiteers, without clearly connecting these points to the central question. Linking phrases such as “Furthermore” and “To conclude” are present, but some transitions are awkward or do not establish a clear relationship between claims. Paragraphing also separates ideas without consistently giving each paragraph one developed purpose. Organise the essay around a clear sequence—for example, your position, reasons supporting it, and a qualification—and use pronouns and transitions to make the links explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “underprivileged,” “alleviation of poverty,” “privileged classes” and “sympathise,” which shows an effort to express ideas beyond basic terms. However, word choice and collocation are often inaccurate or unnatural, and some expressions make the argument harder to understand. For example, “noble qualities in the heart of a prosperous personalities” and “do numerous more for this world” do not convey your intended meaning clearly. There are also spelling errors such as “catagories” and “aslo.” Aim for precise, natural combinations and check spelling; simpler accurate wording is more effective than ambitious phrases used incorrectly. This would make your ideas clearer and more convincing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, including a contrast in “not every rich person is kind hearted” and a relative clause beginning “those who rule the Earth.” However, the range is limited, and complex sentences are often faulty. Errors in agreement and verb forms appear in “it is entirely depend upon a heart” and “rich people do numerous more”; articles and plurals are also inconsistent, as in “a prosperous personalities.” Sentence boundaries and punctuation need attention: several sentences run together, while “I believe, having wealth is a God gifted thing God has divided…” lacks a clear separation. Practise building accurate sentences with one main idea, then add subordinate clauses only when their structure is secure.
