IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern world ,it is often argued that beign a reach is a blessings for poor peoples. Many peope thought that the people who are rich they helped the poor people. However , I firmly believe that its not true and i will discuess it by using pragmatic approach.
I strongly disagree with this statement there is a reason behind it .Now a days the people are become more greedy and selfish. It is because everybody just thinking about itself they are not thought about other either they are poor or rich. But rich are more when they make a wealth they think to collect it more and more they dose not help the others people.Either they are their relatives are not. I will allobrate it with the example recently in my relatives there are two types of family one is too much poor they are living at rented house and other is too much rich they have lot of wealth .when poor family decided to marriage of his daughter they request them to help their for dowry of his daughter they said no we can not do it . We have nothing for u we are not helping your.that is why i m completely disagree with this statement.
Any other how its true that there are some people who help the poor it may be around about 10 percent. In addition to this i am hundred percent sure they may be middle type people who are not relay in both category of rich and poor.
In conclusion, i am completely disagree with this opinion what is the reason of my disagree with iti have mentioned an example above. Therefore, I does not like this opinion of the people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against the idea that wealth facilitates helping others. However, the development of ideas is limited. The argument relies heavily on a single personal anecdote rather than exploring broader societal or economic implications. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth, leading to an over-generalisation about human nature. To improve, you should aim to provide more balanced, analytical arguments that go beyond personal experience, such as discussing the role of philanthropy versus individual greed in a more structured, academic manner.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical flow is often disrupted by awkward transitions and repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used, but they are often mechanical or misused, such as 'Any other how' and 'In addition to this'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the progression of your argument. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your main thesis.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is limited and contains frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'beign' for 'being', 'reach' for 'rich', and 'allobrate' for 'elaborate'. The range of vocabulary is basic, and there is a reliance on simple, repetitive terms. While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the high frequency of errors in basic spelling and collocation hinder the overall quality of the writing. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more academic collocations and ensure accurate spelling of common words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay displays a limited range of grammatical structures. There are frequent errors in sentence construction, subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'they dose not help'), and punctuation. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which makes the text difficult to read. While you attempt some complex sentences, they are often grammatically incorrect, which impedes clarity. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring subject-verb agreement, and using correct punctuation. Practising the construction of error-free simple and compound sentences will provide a stronger foundation for more complex structures.
