IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.5)
I fully agree with this statement that if you are rich than you have opportunity to help others in different ways. For clearing my point of view, I provide some instance.
First of all, becoming rich give you several advantages such as you are able to fulfil your wishes. As well as you are able to fulfil wishes of your family members. You can bought anything what you want. Furthermore you can provide best education to your children.
Moreover being rich mean that you have opportunity to help other people of society. You can help those people of society who are needy. You can help them in several types such as you give them glosry items, cash, daily use products etc. By doing these things you are reason for smile on their faces. Additionally when you perform these activities, you give a good lesson to society. Many people got inspiration from your work.
In this way poverty ends slowly from society. As well as you can make small bussineses and give them to needy persons of society.
On other hand, when you help needy people this has some drawbacks. For example, if you help them every month this activity make them lazy and dull. Than these people do not work for earning. However they know you will help them when they will have need.
At the conclusion, i think being rich is great beleesing of lord. As well as helping others also have good impact on society. Therefore, when I become rich, I help other individuals of society. From my prespective, helping needy people is our work as a nation.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by agreeing that wealth provides an opportunity to help others. However, the development is somewhat uneven. While you provide examples of how to help, such as providing education or starting businesses, the discussion on the 'drawbacks' of helping is slightly tangential to the core question of whether the 'most important' thing about being rich is the opportunity to help. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The conclusion is personal rather than a summary of the main points, which limits the overall impact of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'First of all', 'Furthermore', and 'Additionally'. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'For clearing my point of view' and 'On other hand'. The paragraphing is logical, but the internal flow within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences feel disjointed due to repetitive sentence structures.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is somewhat limited and repetitive. You use basic terms like 'help', 'rich', and 'needy' frequently. There are also some spelling errors, such as 'glosry' (grocery), 'bussineses' (businesses), and 'beleesing' (blessing), which occasionally distract the reader. To improve, you should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to philanthropy, socio-economic status, and community development. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the sophistication required for higher band scores.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures. While there are attempts at complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'if you are rich than you have opportunity' (should be 'then' and 'the opportunity') and 'You can bought' (should be 'buy'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity. Increasing the use of error-free complex structures and focusing on basic tense consistency would significantly improve your score.
