Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt but fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 211 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state your position clearly in the introduction and conclusion, the supporting arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about the government's inability to address poverty is mentioned but not expanded upon. To improve, you must provide more detailed examples and explanations to fully explore the implications of wealth and social responsibility. Because the response is under-length, the depth of the argument is insufficient for a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'To conclude' to signal transitions. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'those in the favour of latter opinion'. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your ideas transition more smoothly from one to the next, rather than relying on simple sentence starters.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You use some repetitive phrasing, such as 'poor people' and 'help'. There are also minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'very satisfied act' instead of 'satisfying act' and 'diminishes the daily life problems' instead of 'diminish daily life problems'. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to social issues and economics, and pay closer attention to word forms and collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading. Examples include 'the most essential components' (subject-verb agreement), 'the majority of wealthy individuals feels' (should be 'feel'), and 'disease nad poverty' (spelling/typo). Additionally, there are issues with articles and pluralization, such as 'in the favour of latter opinion'. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for small errors in articles and prepositions, which will help make your writing more accurate and professional.
