IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
it is generally believed that the rich people do have the most opportunities to help the needy ones, but is it true? Having money, fame and respect gives you the power and attention of the world, which means you have a great audience to hear you out. Moreover, these upper class citizen can fulfill the needs of people around them, with ease. They can feed them, solve their problems, provide them with medical facilities, give them shelter and clothes. Someone, who is an employee will find it challenging to provide such facilities, they are already facing difficulties in making both ends meet. Resultantly, it is much easier for the rich people to help the ones in need.
Moreover, there are several needs except providing money. Doctors can help them with medical facilities, an owner of a restaurant can help the poor with food, some can offer the poor with clothes, and other objects that they are in need of. Although everyone has the chance to help others, the upper class undoubtedly has more opportunities to make a difference. Furthermore, the rich citizen can vanish their problems and can help them to build a better lifestyle. However, they can not only help them alone, but they can ask the social media for help. Resultantly, this will raise a voice among everyone, and many will be willing to help the poor by giving charity. The government will also look into providing them facilities free of cost.
In conclusion, the people having fame and money do have a greater chance of helping others. Nowadays, everyone is stuck in some sort of situation, and helping them would spread peace in the society, inspiring others to offer the same help.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the relationship between wealth and the ability to help others. You have a clear position, and the ideas are generally relevant. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument that the rich can 'vanish their problems' is vague and lacks specific examples of how this occurs. While you mention social media and government involvement, these points are not fully explored in relation to the core prompt. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph provides a more detailed explanation or a concrete example to support your claims, rather than listing general statements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Resultantly', and 'In conclusion' to link your points. However, some of these transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive, particularly the use of 'Resultantly' at the start of sentences. Additionally, some referencing is a bit unclear, such as in the phrase 'they can not only help them alone', where the pronoun 'they' lacks a precise antecedent. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring clear pronoun references would enhance the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'medical facilities', 'charity', and 'lifestyle'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, 'upper class citizen' should be pluralized as 'citizens', and 'vanish their problems' is not a natural collocation; 'alleviate their problems' or 'resolve their issues' would be more appropriate. You rely on fairly common vocabulary; to achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary and demonstrate a better grasp of collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is appropriate for this level. There are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('these upper class citizen can fulfill') and awkward phrasing ('Someone, who is an employee will find it challenging'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some unnecessary commas, such as after 'Someone'. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and refining your use of complex sentence structures will help improve your accuracy.
