IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 5.5)
In modern age, being rich is an important thing to live a life according to the modern lifestyles and societies. Some people say that the most essential thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. I firmly subscribe to the view that people who have money are consider worthable. The whole world is in their foots. Everyone look them with respect and honour. A person who has extra money can spend a luxury life according to their own lifestyle and budget. They choose only those things which are important for them. The most persuasive argument in the favour of this view is that a man who is rich can help others people. They can support their poor relatives both physically and financially. They can invest money to give them a satisfactory life. It's a reality of modern life that if we have some money then we are able to help others. Whereas, if a person has no enough money to fulfill their home expenses, he can not support another person. A further point of worthy consideration is that a rich person can provide others people with many advantages such as home security, financially suppoty. This is clearly exemplified by billionaires who have developed companies and factories that provide vaccancies and healthcare to millions of people in poor country. Accordingly, I remain fully convinced that is a person is wealthy, they do not have need to woory about basic needs such as home expenses, food and healthcare, This also reduces stress. The ability to secures a comfortable life and enjoy personal freedom is the most proper opportunities that wealth provides.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing the benefits of wealth, specifically focusing on the opportunity to help others. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and lacks a nuanced exploration of the 'to what extent' aspect. While you clearly agree, the argument remains focused on general advantages of wealth rather than deeply analyzing whether helping others is the 'most important' aspect compared to other potential benefits like personal freedom or security. The position is clear, but the supporting ideas could be more varied to fully satisfy the requirements of a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is occasionally hindered by repetitive sentence structures and mechanical transitions. For instance, the transition 'A further point of worthy consideration' is a bit clunky. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Accordingly' and 'Whereas', the connection between ideas is sometimes forced. The paragraphing is present, but the internal progression of ideas within the paragraphs could be smoother to ensure a more natural flow of arguments.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'worthable', 'in their foots', and 'suppoty'. You rely on basic descriptors like 'important' and 'luxury life' repeatedly. To improve, you should focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate and grammatically correct.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Everyone look them', 'if a person is wealthy, they do not have need to woory'), incorrect pluralization ('others people'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and article usage would significantly improve your score.
