IELTS Writing Task 2 question
Some say that the most important thing about being rich is that one has the opportunity to help others. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Some individuals believe that the most important thing about being rich is that you have the chances and opportunities to help others. I completely agree with this statement.
On one hand, if you are wealthy and have a stable businesses and financial security, then you has the ability to help the people who are facing difficulties in their daily life. For instance, you can do charity, provide funds for educational institutions, hospitals and orphanages or arrange a shelter where the peoples in need can get food and nutrients at low price or free of cost. These good deeds help you to get more success due to the prayers of these individual.
On the other hand, Establishment of new factories, industries, and companies can also increase the opportunities for jobless individuals, so they have work according to their professions, background, and education. Everyone has the way to find job which is also beneficial for poor families. For example, if the unemployment is controlled then most of the middle-class families have the savings to provide good education to their child, which is essential for next generation. Moreover, if the society is well-educated then the crimes and other illegal activities will be suppressed, and the younger generation can get good teaching regarding respect of elders, tell right from wrong and help the peoples in need.
In conclusion, i strongly agree with the statement that if the rich peoples can help other individuals in the society and provide opportunities to them, then both the country and society can improve its reputation and progress which helps them in further development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on both direct charitable acts and the indirect benefits of job creation. However, the development is somewhat limited; while the points are clear, they could be extended with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main argument. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the prompt, though it lacks the depth of analysis required for a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices such as 'On one hand', 'On the other hand', 'For instance', and 'Moreover' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there is some mechanical usage, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Referencing is generally clear, though some minor issues with pluralization (e.g., 'the peoples') occasionally disrupt the logical flow. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical and easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial security', 'educational institutions', and 'illegal activities'. However, there are recurring errors in word form and usage, such as 'peoples' instead of 'people' and 'nutrients' instead of 'nutrition'. The range is sufficient to convey meaning, but the lack of precision and occasional awkward collocations prevent a higher score. Expanding the range of synonyms and ensuring correct word forms would improve the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'then you has the ability', 'the rich peoples can help') and pluralization. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors that affect the overall polish of the writing. The control over complex structures is inconsistent, and the errors are noticeable, though they do not impede communication. Improving accuracy in basic grammar rules would significantly enhance the score.
