Student answer (Band 5.5)

Unanimously, in this period of modernity, many people are rich and have the opportunity to help others. This has been the prominent topic of discussion amongst people. Well, in my opinion, I strongly agree with this given notion and the supporting toward my view will be discussed in further paragraphs with a suitable conclusion.

Firstly, supporting my agreement to the given statement, I firmly have a belief that being rich and helping other's and supporting them to achieve their goals and opportunities. Additionally, another aspect which propels my view is that a successful person should donate or give charity to a needy person who cannot afford basic necessities. For instance, a person who is not able to buy food, clothes and other basic things should be helped so that, he/she survive their life with basic facilities.

Secondly, another supporting aspect in favour of this statement is, there is no paradox that they should invest in hospitals or other essential medical services so people receive the medical facilities when needed Hence, agree point To Exemplify, funding a hospital which is located in a rural area.

In conclusion, I pen down highlighting that the aforementioned given points heavily support my sense of belief regarding my opinion which are worthy enough to strongly support my view point. To make it more effective a joint effort is needed by the citizens and government.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a clear position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack depth. For example, the point about funding hospitals is introduced but not fully explained or linked back to the prompt's core question about the 'most important' aspect of being rich. The ideas are repetitive, and the conclusion does not add any new insight or effectively summarize the arguments. To improve, you must expand your supporting points with more detailed examples and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or misused, such as 'Hence, agree point To Exemplify,' which disrupts the flow of the argument. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between ideas feels abrupt. While there is an attempt to use linking words like 'Firstly' and 'Secondly,' the internal structure within paragraphs lacks cohesion. To achieve a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure that each sentence logically follows the previous one to create a smooth, coherent argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic phrases like 'being rich' and 'help others' throughout the text. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'supporting toward my view' and 'there is no paradox that they should invest.' While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is not sufficient to demonstrate the flexibility required for higher bands. You should aim to incorporate more precise, topic-specific vocabulary related to wealth, philanthropy, and social responsibility to enhance the sophistication of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. For instance, 'I firmly have a belief that being rich and helping other's and supporting them to achieve their goals and opportunities' is a sentence fragment that lacks a main verb for the subject. There are also issues with punctuation and article usage, such as 'a needy person' versus 'the needy.' To improve, focus on sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and proofread for basic errors in subject-verb agreement and pluralization.
